Mehwish Hayat Teases Her Potential Cameo in Netflix’s ‘Emily in Paris’

Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat recently teased her cameo in Emily in Paris through an intriguing Instagram post. Known for her leading role in Punjab Nahi Jaungi, Hayat surprised fans by sharing a series of photos, including one where she’s posing in a kitchen with Lucas Bravo, who portrays Gabriel, the male lead of the show.

In addition, Hayat posted a picture with the series’ producer Stephen Brown, where they were all seen smiling warmly together.

In her caption, Hayat expressed her excitement, saying, “It was wonderful catching up with the charming @lucasnbravo and my partner-in-crime Producer @sjoelbrown on the sets of the new season.” She also shared her anticipation for the upcoming season, adding, “Super thrilled for today’s season premiere of Emily in Paris. Break a leg, guys!”

Hayat hinted at a possible role in the next season of the series with a playful remark: “Meanwhile, who knows, just maybe Gabriel’s love life could use a dash of Pakistani spice next season!”

It’s worth noting that part one of Emily in Paris season 4 has been streaming on Netflix since August 15th, with the second part slated for release on September 12th.

‘No One Has the Right to Defame My Character’ Mehwish Hayat Breaks Silence

Top Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat has finally broken her silence. After Kubra Khan, Hayat has now filed a petition in court against the YouTuber Adil Raja who had allegedly ran a smear campaign against her and other actresses.

Earlier last week, he used the initials of some Pakistani actresses and accused them of giving illegal services to Army officials.

In a conversation with the media, she revealed she has gone through brutal mental agony due to these baseless claims. She further said that social media has people who run negative campaigns against people and it is sad to see people believing them without seeing any actual proof.

Moreover, Hayat expressed that respecting women is everyone’s responsibility and she expects justice from Judiciary. She also added that anyone who participated in sharing the propaganda is equally involved and should be punished as per laws.

She also took to social media to express her feelings – she wrote:

Today I went to court to send a strong message that I will not stand for these vile smear campaigns anymore. This has been going on for some time – but the events of the last few days have hit a new low. Criticise my work all you like – but no one has the right to defame my character. I am not the one to sit and let anyone use me as a pawn in their dirty political games! I am not going to rest until this is resolved. I am happy that the petition has been filed and the people behind this including all the trollers who are spreading malicious lies will be held accountable by the authorities. It is such a shame that I’ve had to go to court to protect my dignity and reputation – is this what we have become? I would like to thank all those from the industry, family, friends and above all fans who have sent me messages of support. They have provided me strength in what has been a trying time.

Prior to this when the allegations initially popped up, she wrote:

Sasti shohrat haasil karne k liye kuch logue insaaniat k darjay se bhi girjatay hain . Hope you’re enjoying your two mins of fame. Just because I am an actress doesn’t mean my name can be dragged through the mud. Shame on you for spreading baseless allegations and insinuations about someone you know nothing about & even bigger shame on people who believe this bullshit. This just shows the sickness of our society that laps up this gutter journalism without any thought. But this stops & it stops now!I won’t allow anyone to defame my name.

More power to you Mehwish – we hope that many can learn important lessons from this situation and realize that attempting to smear a woman’s reputation comes with a price.

Kubra Khan Takes Stand for “Hardworking, Independent Women”, Slaps Defamation Case on Adil Farooq Raja

Top Pakistani actress Kubra Khan has filed a defamation case against YouTuber and former serviceman Adil Farooq Raja.  Adil Raja, a former spokesperson for Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society and retired Major.

For a few days now, the news of Raja pointing out that some of the country’s top actresses have been engaging with officials through ‘honey pot’ traps has been circulating.

Even though he did not name them out loud, he gave their initials which were more than enough to create havoc and throw mud on the reputations of Kubra Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Mahira Khan, and Sajal Aly.

In response, Khan penned down an emotional caption while sharing images of the legal notice she had her lawyers send to Raja.

She wrote:

The past four days.. have been so difficult for me and my family that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to explain in words. I couldn’t wrap my head around why anyone would do this to me.. even after it was clarified that my name or initials were misinterpreted why was I still getting bullied so ferociously. Even before I reacted.. why were my pictures being used in such an inappropriate manner.. and then I realized.. that no one’s ever put a stop to it.

 

Because we’re so used to being quiet, until this story dies, another arises to do the same damage just because we didn’t speak up.

 

But enough is enough. So this is me, exercising my constitutional rights as a Pakistani and relying on our law to protect my dignity and this is me saying what I want to speak for all the hard-working independent women out there who are insulted daily. I’m not gonna stand here and say I stood up for every woman out there but I will say that I stood up so that from now on if a situation like this arises, every woman and man out there knows that standing up for yourself is your RIGHT.

 

So now.. I leave it in your hands, Our law Implementors and God’s Hands. I rest my case.

Reportedly, Kubra Khan is not the only one who has filed a case against Adil Raja. According to Geo News, a serving head of the intelligence command of Pakistan Army’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in Punjab, sued London-based Adil Farooq Raja for allegedly running a defamation campaign against him on social media platforms. He has demanded an apology, damages and a retraction of the defamatory statements.

The suit was filed with the UK High Court against Mr Raja in August 2022 but was made public on Tuesday as Mr Raja stirred controversy in Pakistan over his allegations targeting leading film and TV actresses. However, Raja told Geo News that his tweets and vlogs were based on the information “provided by highly placed sources within the Pakistani Establishment”.

Pakistani Actors Lash Out Over Defamation Attempts on Top Stars

Top Pakistani actresses Mahira Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Sajal Aly, and Kubra Khan have been allegedly been linked to a massive controversy.

Reportedly, a YouTuber and former serviceman by the name of Adil Raja called out some actresses for allegedly sleeping with some powerful men.

Major (r) Adil Raja alleged that at least five Lollywood stars were used as ‘honey traps’ by the country’s establishment.

While he did not take their names out loud, he shared their initials which were M.K, S.A, M.H, and K.K – it did not take long for the public to call him out for the defamation of these stars.

Many of their co-stars and members of the fraternity stood up for the celebs and the female gender, calling for Raja to apologize for the nonsense he started on social media without any proof.

Taking to social media, Kubra asked the accuser to bring in proof of his claims or else she will take strict action and sue him for defamation.

Sajal also called him out by Tweeting ‘ It is very sad that our country is becoming morally debased and ugly,”

Hayat also jumped on the bandwagon calling the allegations baseless, and saying that she won’t allow anyone to defame her name.

Whereas Zara Noor Abbas said “freedom of speech didn’t mean anyone can get up one day and link women to men or vice Versa’…Being an actress doesn’t mean she would go quiet because you would defame her for the luxury of her job.”

She further mentioned that “being an ex-army officer certainly doesn’t mean you will be respected for your idiotic opinions.”

The actor concluded by saying “accountability matters and it will go under question by whoever will put allegations on women or men without facts.”

On the other hand, Adil Raja took to social media to respond to Kubra claiming that he did not take her name, whereas she took his name, so now she owes him an apology for the alleged defamation.

We have yet to see how these stars take action in the upcoming days, as of now, Mahira Khan has not lashed out or replied to the allegations, which makes sense because she does not want to be associated with this news without a shred of proof against her.

Pakistan Floods: “We Need to Rise to the Challenge” Mehwish Hayat Urges Helping Survivors & Rebuilding

Pakistani superstar Mehwish Hayat has recently been seen on TV talking about the floods in Pakistan.

Hayat appeared on Sky News and BBC to appeal for donations and revealed that she is closely working with Penny Appeal for the cause.

That’s not all, the ‘London Nahi Jaunga’ actor also took it on social media to announce that just talking about the calamity will not change anything and that she feels like she needs to do more.

During her interview with Sky News, she shared:
“One-third of the country has drowned under water, 50 million people are displaced, 1,500 deaths that we know of but there are so many areas that people and help agencies are not being able to access to get to the people who really need help right now.”

She added that over 70,000 pregnant women are expected to deliver next month and they do not have access to clean water, clothes, or food. Hayat said that they have “lost everything” and that these people will now have to rebuild everything from scratch.

“I really wanted to do something about it and I felt that I needed to do more than just tweet and that’s why I’m working with the charity organization Penny Appeal to get help wherever needed. Penny Appeal is on the ground in the 13 most affected areas and according to a recent report out of 160 districts, 72 have been declared as disaster zones by the government. You can imagine the scale of the damage, the disaster, and the fact that so much help is needed on every front.”Moreover, she announced to personally visit the flood-hit areas herself and speak to the people to try and find out how they need to be assisted.

“In this time we really need the world and all the viewers to rise to the challenge and help people in need because I believe that if you save one life, you save the world, and with your little help, whatever little you can spare, that can help save thousands of lives. Right now, they don’t even have basic medical aid, the women who will be delivering will be needing medical care, help, and assistance,” she requested.

Furthermore, she also informed viewers about waterborne diseases and infections that are possibly waiting to break out, not to forget the upcoming winter season which will also be a major challenge.

“For these areas, winter is actually one of the toughest months of the year, and imagine they don’t even have shelter, the camps don’t have the tents for them to sleep at night or have any sort of normality to their life and I think a lot is needed to be done. It’s $10 billion worth of damage as per the government estimates, so it will take time to get back to any normality, it’s going to take years,” she said.

Similarly, on BBC, the Ms Marvel star requested individuals to donate food, clean water, sustainable food, and other items that will help the flood survivors get back on their feet.

‘London Nahin Jaunga Was My Last Film with Mehwish Hayat’: Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar

Famed writer Khalil-ur-Rehhman is now tired of working with Mehwish Hayat and Humayun Saeed.

During an interview, the ‘London Nahi Jaunga’ famed writer shared that Mehwish Hayat is a great actress and is pleasant to work with, however, he will no longer write scripts for her.

He said the same for his old pal Humayun Saeed who has worked with Hayat in the previous movie titled ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ which was also written by Qamar.

She’s a good actor but I have done my last film with her, I think, I won’t be able to write for her I am even tired of writing for Humayun Saeed now. If they got good chemistry, she should do something else, it’s not my responsibility, it is the time that other actresses should get the chance to work with me, already worked with her -Khalil ur Rehman Qamar said.

When a question was raised about Mehwish’s age, the writer took her side saying that he doesn’t think that age really matters nor is the problem, he believes that she has worked in many projects and others deserve a chance.

Qamar has also refused with other talented actors such as Mahira Khan. Even though he has said that he has forgiven the actress for their previous banters, he will not forget.

The scriptwriter gained popularity for writing projects like Pyarey Afzaal, Sadqay Tumhare, and the blockbuster show Mere Pass Tum Ho.

While people love his work, there are some who do not like Khalil’s views on certain sensitive issues.

Moreover, many have labeled him as a misogynist and an egoistic person for his past actions, statements, and even his scripts.

Mehwish Hayat Fans Want to See Her as ‘Wonder Woman’ in DC’s Next

Pakistanis were in absolute shock when they first saw Mehwish Hayat at the premiere of Marvel’s latest series – Ms Marvel starring Iman Vellani aka Kamala Khan.

Soon, the news of Mehwish playing the role of Kamala’s great-grandmother Aisha (who found the bangle that started the legacy) took over social media.

Moreover, rumours spread that the role of the great-grandfather, opposite her, would be played by the handsome Fawad Khan, which left fans in awe.

Now, after having their need for a brown superhero they can finally relate to super satisfied, fans want to see Mehwish Hayat in DC’s next title as the one and only, Wonder Woman (who is currently played by Gal Gadot).

Fans have taken over social media, sharing pictures of Hayat as Wonder Woman, even Hayat responded to one of the visions, stating ‘this is a really kool edit!!’

We have to admit that the edit is so unique it looks almost real. Moreover, we stumbled upon an entire Twitter thread by a fan who shared that Mehwish Hayat is one of the best faces they’ve seen in the MCU. Moreover, every time she was on the screen, all eyes were only on her!

While we’d love to see more of Mehwish in the MCU and DC worlds, we do wonder if DC would ever consider her as Wonder Woman over Gal Gadot. Perhaps the studio will introduce this superstar as another hero or maybe even a villain someone in the long run.

While we anticipate many more titles coming out this till the end of 2023, including one titled ‘The Marvels’ featuring Captian Marvel (Carol Danvers) with Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan) and Monica Rambeau, we may see a little bit more of Mehwish Hayat on the big screen – at least that’s what we are wishing on.

Ms Marvel Episode 5: Kamala Khan Explores Her Pakistani Roots as Fawad Khan & Mehwish Hayat’s Untold Story Comes to Light in the backdrop of Partition

Ms Marvel’s episode 5 is here and boy-oh-boy was it a rollercoaster adventure! Before we get into the juicy bits, we have to admit that Marvel has gone out of its way to make a show that has focused on the smallest of details.

In the opening of the last episode, we spotted a naan with Ms Marvel’s name, reflecting the Pakistani culture and heritage, this time, Marvel replaced its famous ‘Blinded by the Lights’ opening with ‘Tu Mera Chaand, Main Teri Chaandni’ and it was LOVE!

Not to forget that FAWAD KHAN has finally made his much-awaited MCU debut with a bang! Social Media is loving every bit of it!

The Begining of a Love Story

Moving forward, the episode starts with a clip dating back to Pakistan and India’s first Independence. However, we see that the struggle for the dream of an independent country really started in 1942.

The frame then starts with Mehwish Hayat aka Aisha running through a jungle as a British soldier is chasing her. When the man screams for her to stop or else he’ll shoot her, she throws a dagger right into his chest.

On the other hand, we finally get to meet Hasan (Fawad Khan) who is an activist, and is heard giving a speech to his fellow countrymen, be they Muslim, Hindu, or Sikh, all can live in a British-Free India if they come together for peace without riots. That is when Aisha lays her eyes on Hasan for the first time ever.

We then see Mehwish peacefully sleeping under a tree, when a concerned Hasan tries to wake her up. She then has her first interaction with him, he offers her food and water, and a warm place to sleep. Eventually, the two start to form a special bond.

The Partition & Sacrifice

As they become parents to a beautiful girl, Kamala’s nani (Sana), we see how Hasan is worried about the rising tensions in the country with bloody protests and riots breaking out. We then see a neighbour, Rohan bringing milk for the family, upon which Hasan is highly upset as no one is willing to buy roses from him nor willing to sell milk to his wife, this gives us a deeper sense of the troubles the Muslims of the sub-continent went through.

Eventually, Najma finds Aisha, who is still persistent in going home. However, Aisha, now at this point has mixed feelings. Aisha uses the riots as an excuse to convince Hasan to leave with her, and they make their way with the others towards the platform. Hasan realizes Aisha is afraid of something and confronts her about the mysterious woman whom she met (Najma).

Aisha then shows Hasan the magical bangle and asks Hasan to make sure no matter what happens, to make sure that Sana gets on the train to safety. Throughout the scene, we see chaos, fear, tension, panic, tears, and a plethora of emotions on all Muslim’s faces as they try to escape fearing for their life.

Aisha and Hasan get separated after she hands their daughter to him and asks him to look after her as she is not safe. Najma confronts Aisha, and stabs her for ‘betraying them’ and choosing Hasan over her family. Aisha tries to warn Najma that the plan will not work, but it’s too late, she gets left behind as Hasan and Sana also get separated.

Kamala at this point is trying to make sense of what is happening, and eventually finds dying Aisha, who is relieved that the bangle worked and brought Kamala through time. Aisha asks Kamala to protect Sana and get her on the train while protecting the bangle from Najma. And with that, Aisha takes her last breath.

Kamala is able to find Sana, and uses her powers to reunite her nani with her great grandfather, Kamala then realizes it was her who made the magical stars her nani refers to in the last episode.
