there Bin went more viral than usual because of how users were furious about how the writers, actors, producers and directors had agreed to show an alleged marital rape scene between Murtasim and Meerab, however, due to the pressure, they had to change the episode, to make it seem that it wasn’t rape but a consensual act.

4. Murtasim’s Weak Eye-Sight

The most illogical and serious twist to the latest Tere Bin episode was none other than Murtasim being sightless to the extent that he could not read Meerab’s name on a pharmacy prescription, that can confirm she is pregnant.

Tere Bin Writer Defends Controversial R*pe Scene, “Was Necessary to Build the Show’s Climax”

Fan-favourite drama serial Tere Bin took an unexpected turn, and fans are shocked! They are still not able to believe that their beloved Muratism (Wahaj Ali) had ra*ped his on-screen wife Meerab(Yumna Zaidi).

In the episode before the rape scene, we see Meerab slap him and even spit on his face, after which he loses his cool, half of the fans say that he had been patient long enough and she deserved it, while the other half say showing and promoting marital ra*e is WORNG.

On the other hand, Tere Bin writer Nooran Makhdoom says that the ra*e was necessary to show as it was the demand of the script, “It’s a situation which was the demand of the serial that will lead to the climax.”

Moreover, she added that  “If the audience isn’t getting it, I can’t change it,” she continued. “It’s just a drama. They should wait for the entire story to unfold instead of taking issue with every episode.”

The writer went on to add that neither the content team nor the production house objected to the new storyline. “It’s not like this has happened onscreen for the first time,” she added.  “It’s just that this project has received such wide recognition that people reacted strongly to the recent twist.”

She stands by the scene and the script. “If you speak of my social responsibility, I created a story and I stand by it,” she told the publication. “And this is not an unusual occurrence; it has happened before.”

Here, Makhdoom was referring to drama serials like Imran Ashraf and Iqra Aziz’s popular venture, Ranjha Ranjha Kardi, which too was highly criticised for including marital ra*e in the show.

Some fans have suggested that the ra*e does not take place, it is possible that Meerab and Murtasim get into an argument in which they both express their true feelings and then Meerab finds out that Rohail has passed away. Both of them go into shock and are unable to process their feelings.

The story revolves around Meerab (Yumna Zaidi), a fun, social, and outgoing Karachiite who wants to pursue law. She loves her parents and cannot stand any injustice. We also see Murtasim (Wahaj Ali) who is the complete opposite. To him his (his family’s) respect is everything, he has a conservative mindset and has been brought up to take over the family throne.

It doesn’t take long to piece together that both of the leads absolutely dislike one another, while Meerab thinks Murtasim is self-centred and arrogant, he also thinks of her as wild, disrespectful and unbearable. Moving into the episodes, we can also feel a sense of helplessness from Meerab’s parents who want to give her the whole world but are bounded by Murtasim’s family.

Throughout the videos, it is very evident that Meerab despises the family, and considers the home a prison. She thinks women are nothing but prisoners who are forced to obey the men of the household and have no life of their own.

Murtasim’s mother, Begum Khanum (Bushra Ansari) and her brother-in-law do not want Meerab to take law because a cultured girl is not someone who goes to court according to them. While discussing her future, they decide the best way control her is to get her married off.

On Meerab’s birthday, without asking for her consent, Begum Khanum announces that she has selected Meerab for her son. After this announcement, Meerab is in utter shock, and so is Murtasim because everyone knows they cannot tolerate each other. Moreover, he tells his mother that she has to take back her decision because it is his life and she has no right to make this decision for him. Both Meerab and Murtasim tell their families that no matter what happens, they will not tie the knot.

The Verdict

Rating: (4/5)

The chemistry between both the actors is sizzling. The hate between the two is what gives the audience the pleasure of watching the show because it is only enhancing the chemistry. While it was obvious that the solution to ‘control’ Meerab would be to marry her, it was also obvious that it would be Murtasim who would be the scapegoat.

Despite their hatred towards each other, will Meerab and Murtasim accept their true feelings or will the dynamics of ego and self-respect force them to stay apart?

She is headstrong and creates a name for herself despite the odds. She plays an important role in influencing Momin’s (Hamza Ali Abbasi) life as well as he searches for answers.

Mehwish Hayat has represented Pakistan along with Fawad Khan and Iman Vellani by playing Aisha in the marvel Universe. Her performances in local shows are just as powerful as the Djinn’s performance in Ms Marvel. Mehwish is not the typical ‘sharmeeli’ character in Dil Lagi – she is bold, brave, and powerful. From fighting off thugs to bringing her own bahraat to the groom’s house her character is a breath of fresh air in a town full of cliche.

Dua’s character has inspired many girls teaching them not to compromise on their dreams, goals, life aspirations. Throughout the show, we saw how she wanted to be a doctor and didn’t give up on her dream, not even for Saad. This shows the importance of fighting for your rights, understanding the importance of empowerment and promoting healthy relationships because they are never supposed to be one-sided or painful.

5. Zindagi Gulzar Hai

Kashaf aka Sanam Saeed is a character that many girls can relate to. She always has her walls up, is opinionated, straightforward, doesn’t tolerate bull-sh*t and is very career-driven. She even gets a merit scholarship and consistently stands up for her mother every time an injustice comes forth. Even after getting married, Kashaf does not give up on her career despite being promoted to another city than her husband. All the while she supports her mother, showing that she is a daughter first and then a wife.
