‘What’s Love Got to do With It’ Trailer Ft. Sajal Aly is Finally Here!

What’s Love Got to Do with It? is a British romantic comedy film directed by Shekhar Kapur, screenplay by Jemima Goldsmith, starring Pakistan’s very own Sajal Aly, Lily James, Emma Thompson, Shazad Latif, Shabana Azmi, Rob Brydon, and Asim Chaudhry.

The film is set on a cross-cultural love story and revolves around finding love and marriage, with the story being set in London and South Asia. Jemima Goldsmith took it to her Twitter to share the exciting trailer everyone had been waiting for with an intriguing caption. She writes:

Is it better to walk into love, than fall into it?  Watch the official trailer for WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?— starring Lily James, Shazad Latif, Shabana Azmi, Sajal Aly, Asim Chaudhry and Emma Thompson — in UK cinemas January 27, 2023

In the trailer, we see that a British and a Pakistani family are neighbours with a sweet friendship between the children Kazim (Shazad Latif) and Zoe (Lily James). While Zoe is exploring her options with dating apps and other means, Kazim’s family want him to get into an arranged marriage through a marriage bureau.

He eventually meets Zoya (Sajal Aly) through an online chat and the families get talking, but when she is asked about feeling comfortable about moving to London, we can see that she is very hesitant. Zoya and Kazim eventually meet and start preparations for the wedding while Zoe is still trying to figure out a lot in her life while documenting Kazim’s journey.

P.S. You even get to see a cameo from the legendary Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in the trailer too!

Jemima Goldsmith States ‘Like I’m back in 90s Lahore’: Reacts to Anti-Imran Khan Protest Targeting her Children

Jemima Goldsmith has reacted to the Anti-Imran Khan protest targeting her children on social media. For Jemima, it seems as if history is repeating itself.

She took it to the microblogging site to express how she feels like she is back in Lahore in the 90s following IK’s oust. She wrote, “Protests outside my house, targeting my children, antisemitic abuse on social media…. It’s almost like I’m back in 90s Lahore.”

Pakistani Journalist Hamid Mir replied to the tweet, saying, “PTI must stop protesting outside the house of Nawaz Sharif in London, and PML-N should not do the same outside the house of Jemima Goldsmith those who live in glass houses should not throw stones on others. ”

Jemima responded by saying, “With respect, The difference is that I have got nothing to do with Pakistani politics, and neither have my children. They are low-key private individuals who are not even on social media.”

The opposition has, over the years, targeted Khan’s first marriage and his kids. In July 2021, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said in one of her jalsas targeted Imran Khan and Jemima Goldsmith’s kids. She said they are “being raised in the lap of the Jews. ”

 

Jemima has time and again pointed out how she is no longer affiliated with Pakistan or its politics. She wrote, “I left Pakistan in 2004 after a decade of antisemitic attacks by the media & politicians (& weekly death threats & protests outside my house). But still, it continues. “

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, married Jemima Goldsmith in 1995. The two parted ways in 2004 after 9 years of marriage. They have two children together, “Sulaiman Isa Khan and Kasim Khan.”

“What is the Best Contemporary Pakistani Pop Song that Would Play at a Wedding? “ Pakistanis Respond to Jemima

Pakistan’s prime minister Imran Khan’s ex-wife, Jemima Goldsmith, asked an odd question on Twitter today. In a tweet, she wrote, “Question for Pakistani Twitter: What is the best contemporary Pakistani pop song please that would play at a wedding?”

To consider that she would receive straight answers to her question is an understatement.  Naturally, Pakistani Twitter took its natural course. All sorts of hilarious answers were given, whether it was about inflation or referring Jemima as bhabhi (even though she left Pakistan a long time ago), posting memes, and asking her to return to Pakistan.

We strongly believe that Jemima is in the post-production phase of her upcoming movie, “What’s Love Got to Do With it?” She may be just be taking the public’s opinion on the matter. A source earlier reported that the film would be set around cross-cultural conflicts of love and marriage. It is expected that the movie will echo Jemima’s personal experience.

Sajal Aly, Jemima Goldsmith, and Shabana Azmi have been spotted on the sets fo Jemima Goldsmith‘s upcoming romantic comedy ‘What’s Love Got To With It?’. Jemima and Sajal both took it to their Instagram to update fans with a sneak peek of the duo onset.  The former wife of PM also posted a picture with Indian actress, Shabana Azmi on her inta stories later. 

The news of the film being in the works was out last year, however, in an unexpected turn of events, BBC journalist Haroon Shahid revealed just last month that Sajal Aly, a Pakistani actress who had previously appeared in an Indian film, Mom alongside Shridevi in 2017 is also part of the film.

Other film stars include Lily James, Shazad Latif, and Emma Thompson. The movie is reportedly set between South Asia and London. Currently, the team is shooting in London in full swing.

An honourable resource earlier reported that the film will be set around cross-cultural conflicts of love and marriage. It is expected that the movie will echo Jemima’s own personal experience. The film is directed by Shekhar Kapur alongside Jemima playing the role of a producer. The film will mark Kapur’s directorial return in the industry since his 2007 Oscar-winning movie Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

1991: In September of 1991, Lady Diana, the Princess of Wales, arrived in Pakistan on her first official solo tour. She was hosted by Nawaz Sharif, the Prime Minister in time as it was a political trip.

1996: On February 20-22, Lady Diana visited Pakistan to help raise funds for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital.

Jemima sought the designer, Rizwan Beyg before Diana visited Pakistan without telling him for whom he was designing. Beyg, in an interview, said he had an idea who it was, so he started observing Diana’s style before the papers even covered news of her visiting Pakistan.

An off-white shalwar kameez was made for Diana, which she wore at a cancer fundraiser at London’s Dorchester Hotel hosted by none other than Imran Khan. The outfit was a gift from Jemima to one of her closest friends.

Beyg’s outfit is still at the memorial where Princess Diana was buried in Althorp.

He recalled, “People like Armani and Valentino commented on the dress and said it was beautiful, it was elegant, it was traditional, but at the same time, it was modern.”

Jemima Goldsmith‘s upcoming romantic comedy is all set to hit theatres, titled ‘What’s Love Got To With It?’ The film stars Lily James, Shazad Latif, and Emma Thompson in lead roles. The movie is reportedly set between South Asia and London.

The film is directed by Shekhar Kapur alongside Jemima playing the role of a producer. The film will mark Kapur’s directorial return in the industry since his 2007 Oscar-winning movie Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

The film is being produced under the banner of Instinct Productions owned by Jemima herself. 

While the news of Jemima’s produced film is making rounds on social media, no set date has been announced as yet. Some sources quote that the movie should be out next month. However, nothing has been confirmed by the makers of the film. An honourable resource lately reported that the film would be set around cross-cultural conflicts of love and marriage. It is expected that the movie will echo Jemima’s own personal experience.

Other notable films produced under the same banner include 2019 Emmy-nominated The Case Against Adnan Syed and 2018 drama The Clinton Affair with producer credits to Jemima herself.
