Anoushey Ashraf Calls Out Journalists for Questioning Girl’s Football Team’s Clothes

Pakistan Football Federation recently announced that Pakistan’s female football team will participate in the SAFF Women’s Football Championship 2022.

This came as exciting news as we wanted to see our girls in action, and hoped that they would reach the sky when it comes to success. Although they did not win the trophy, they won our hearts.

Especially with their performance against Malaysia in which they defeated the opposition by a whopping 7-0 score.

However, during a press conference, despite the appreciation, a journalist raised a question that has infuriated most of social media.

The journalist called out the team for wearing shorts throughout the tournament. He questioned why the girls didn’t wear leggings as they come from the ‘Islamic Republic of Pakistan’.

In response, the coach replied that Pakistan holds its social and religious values very close, but in sports, one has to be progressive.

Anoushey Ashraf was one of the many who lost her temper and called out the journalist.

She called for a ban on journalist, saying he should know that Pakistan became an “Islamic” republic much after Jinnah’s death. “This country was made for oppressed Muslims, and not in the name of Islam to suppress Muslims of their choices.

“The girls choose [what to wear], and we’ve all been exposed to religion as much as anyone else and make informed choices. But as a man him worrying about their ‘nikker’ is cringe-worthy. A true definition is a person who doesn’t judge but only leads by example,” her Instagram post reads.

Nonetheless, we are extremely proud of our girls who represented Pakistan on an international platform. Despite not having financial support like other teams, proper equipment, or a training facility, these girls have shown that with time they can bring the trophy home.

Anoushey Ashraf Reveals Why She Was Against Shoaib Akhtar’s Remarks Over PSL Anthem “Groove Mera”

Popular host Anoushey Ashraf has revealed why she was against Shoaib Akhtar’s remarks over the PSL anthem “Groove Mera.”

Anoushey Ashraf was invited to Ahsan Khan’s talk show alongside Ayesha Omer. The host asked her why she was against Akhtar’s remarks, to which she responded by saying, “He [Shoaib Akhtar] went ahead and said that the song is terrible.”

She said, “I said to him, “do not degrade artists.” She said everyone is entitled to their opinion, but instead of bashing the artists, the team behind the song, you can say you didn’t like it. The singers work hard to create songs, and that “personal attack on somebody’s art and creativity is not warranted.”

Groove Mera featuring Young Stunners, Aima Baig, and Naseebo Lal was a new song when PSL was about to begin last year. The song wasn’t our usual but featured artists from different genres, which garnered mixed reviews in the beginning. However, it became a fan favorite later on.

Akhtar had uploaded a lengthy video on his YouTube channel where he was expressing how he hated the song and belittling the artists and the team behind the song. He uploaded a short clip on his Instagram too. He wrote, “Really disappointed by the anthem this year. Is this how you’re taking PSL brand up? Going down every year. Kon banata hai yeh, he said in an Instagram clip uploaded on his profile.”

At the time, Ashraf has left a comment saying, “Oh dear, this is in bad taste. One thing to not like a song, another thing to run down artists musicians this way. Big fan of @imshoaibakhtar but not the way he’s bashing the new anthem. Some people, including many of your friends, fans, and family like the track. Difference of opinion is welcome, degrading
someone’s work isn’t. Don’t like the track, cool. Hating on it this way? Not cool”.

Host Anoushey Ashraf Wants Men to Understand the Concept of Personal Space and Professionalism

Pakistani host Anoushey Ashraf has called out a coworker on Twitter for violating her personal space on Twitter.

The popular host wrote on the micro-blogging site, “Just because we worked well on a project together doesn’t mean I’m now ‘babe’ and you can hold me by the waist to take selfies at events. We’re colleagues, NOT friends. Know the difference. Understand the concept of personal space. #rant”

Your colleagues are not necessarily your friends. There is a line that shouldn’t be crossed to maintain professionalism and not violate someone else’s personal space.

Following Anoushey Ashraf’s tweet, Twitter users poured out their support for the star on the social media platform. They acknowledged that no matter who you are or what your field of work may be, women encounter uncomfortable problems/situations such as this at their workplace.

A user told tweeted in response to her tweet, ‘Hope you told him off,” to which Ashraf responded that her purpose was to put it out there for people to understand the difference in the future. “It was a massive event, and I didn’t want to create a ruckus.”

In Pakistan, there have been several cases of misconduct and sexual harassment at the workplace by women. So Anoushey’s tweet instead gave voice to the women present on the platform itself.

Pakistani actress Ushna Shah also noted Ashraf’s complaint online without naming the culprit, to which she responded, “I have a feeling I know exactly who triggered this rant.”

Some users also urged Ashraf and Shah to name and shame the person, so they never violate another woman’s privacy like this in public ever again.

On the other side, a man also commented,  “If you have a problem with this, then don’t work. If you want to live in a liberal society, then it will have side effects, tolerate them.”

To which Ashraf snapped back and told her that clearly, he had no idea what personal space is.

Anoushay Ashraf Says Karachi Zoo Needs to ‘SHUT DOWN’ If Problems Don’t Resolve After Animals Left Unfed

On Monday, the contractor for the provision of animal food had halted supply due to non-payment, claiming that the Karachi municipal authorities had not paid him for months.

As per Amjad Mehboob, “The administration hasn’t paid since February 2021.”  Today, the news of the negotiations between the two parties has been making rounds on social media, after which the food supply for the animals has been restored.

Despite the restoration of food, social media is not happy with the caretakers as they claim that the animals remained unfed for the past two days. Video of animals from the zoo also made it online, displaying their condition within the vicinity as an indicator that they are suffering behind the cages. Clearly, there are greater issues that need to be resolved.

Popular host Anoushey Ashraf commented on Instagram. She said,  “Look at the condition of the animals. Why MUST they suffer for the silliness that humans to on to each other. Even if the animals are getting food, this is a CLEAR indication that things need to turn around ASAP. If not, this place needs to SHUT DOWN!”

A clip of a lion from Karachi Zoo starving and in fragile condition sparked outrage after being shared by thousands of internet users and some celebrities.

Among big names, Ahsan Khan, Areeba Habib, Shaniera Akram, and Fatima Bhutto reacted to the deplorable condition of the zoo and the suffering of the animals.

“The inhuman conduct of Zoo officials warrants stern disciplinary action.”

As per KMC, all animals at the zoo are healthy and being provided proper feed. The reports circulating on social media are baseless. It is an effort to spread propaganda about the Karachi Zoo, said a spokesperson.  He also said that the images that are being shared on social media are “outdated.”

Anoushey Ashraf Writes a HeartFelt Note for Afghans Being Helpless, Says They are Just Like You & Me

The US withdrew its troops from Afghanistan a week ago, following this, the world witnessed the collapse of the Afghan government and military. Currently, the Taliban have taken over the country and will most likely be implying the Islamic Sharia law in the country.

Some are devastated by the Taliban takeover, others are glad that it is finally happening. Pakistani actor and RJ is asking people in a heartfelt note on Instagram that whatever side they may take, they must be kind to Afghanis amidst the unsettlement of people and reimbursement of new power in the country.

In the Instagram post, Ashraf shared pictures from 2016 when she was shooting for a TV show. These images are from Kabul, Herat, Mazar Sharif, etc. She wrote in a post, “Glimpses of my beautiful trip to Afghanistan. I was lucky to visit Kabul, Herat, Mazar Sharif, etc for a tv show in 2016. Once it aired on the channel, my inbox was flooded with Afghanis full of adoration, love, and fans who admired me, my work, and a lot of other Pakistani artists.”

In the post, she emphasized that we need to put forward humanity first before we take sides and understand the pain and desperation of the Afghanis. “On this trip, I met girls who wanted to cycle for the Olympics, boys who only wanted to be the next Messi. I met Imams at Masjids who greeted me with love, respect, and duas. I met fantastic tv hosts who were living under tense conditions but were also excited about the new game shows they were launching. I met writers, poets, and restauranteurs. I met children of the Hazara, beautiful even with their Traumas. They were exactly like you and me. And today, they’re helpless, homeless, and abandoned.”

Think about the people whose lives are disrupted by the reimbursement of new power in the country, “This doesn’t make the Govt ( corrupt Ghani ) or the Americans my heroes. But are the Taliban any better? So STOP your hate. At this moment, whoever leads the nation it’s still in crisis and people’s lives have been disrupted all over again. not fair! No one wants to leave their homes and live like a refugee.”

As a true Muslim, you will never harbor hate for anyone in this world, “Look at the 2nd last picture in this series. I photographed each of them. They’re humans with dreams. Please ask yourself why you grew up to be so bitter, that instead of giving people the room to breathe, you abuse them, give them titles like ‘yeh liberals’ Please be kinder. Be a true Muslim on the inside and you’ll never harbor hate for anyone in this world.”

“Sure, the people in power say they want peace, but to many peace only comes on their terms. Peace means girls not working and men not playing sports. Surrender means peace. Not a single life and their true dreams come into consideration. If you think this is ‘good’ let me remind you it’s the innocent losing their right to be free for these leaders (Taliban or not) to feed their agenda, politics, power, and greed. NOTHING ELSE. The Taliban says they’re ready to evolve and give women and children their rights.:

She concluded, “Let’s not hail them heroes yet. They’ve said they have learned from the past. Only time will tell. Reaching out to all my Afghan friends tonight, you are in my prayers. Humanity first.”

University of Lahore Expels Students Over Inappropriate Marriage Proposal: Celebrities & Politicians React

A few days ago, a video of a couple present at the University of Lahore went viral. The girl bent down on her knee and proposed to the guy. She handed him a card and a rose to express her love. The guy, seemingly happy with the PDA, pulled her in for a hug in front of the crowd. We knew this would not sit well with the university authorities as rules and regulations at universities in Pakistan are often strict in terms of the interaction between men and women.

On social media, users applauded the girl for making the first move. Thousands of users left comments on the short video clip from the university.  A statement was later issued by the registrar of the varsity that stated that a special disciplinary committee sat down to discuss the matter and also summoned the students to the meeting in which they didn’t appear. The committee then decided that the only way to deal with the matter is to expel the students and ban them from the campuses.

Authorities made the decision, but social media uproared on the matter. Local celebrities and even politicians thought the move was disgusting. It does not just display conservative thought processes but also hypocrisy at its best since the Universities never take notice of harassment cases but instantly expelled the duo for a little PDA.

“Women Do Not Always Pull Each Other Down,” Says Anoushey Ashraf

On Monday, Popular host and RJ, Anoushey Ashraf penned down a heartfelt caption with snapshots of her DM on her Instagram. Women across the world had left Anoushey compliments wholeheartedly that lifted her spirits.

Ashraf said, “MEN compliment me, and it certainly feels great. But when women compliment me, it uplifts my spirit and soul. These messages have come to me over the last two days from ladies around the world.”

She continued, “They specially wrote to me to appreciate me and give me love. They took the time out to let someone know they’re talented and inspiring. Non-physical compliments also feel so good sometimes. I feel like I have a bigger support system of sisters I haven’t even met but wanted each one of them to know how grateful I am for you.”

Today we do see that women are pitted against each other. However, beyond that, big supportive communities of women are still intact, and Ashraf’s DMs are proof.

She continued, “They (women) do not always get jealous of each other. These are mere misconceptions. People dislike one another; people are sometimes jealous of one another, irrespective of their gender. These messages are proof.”

According to Ashraf, the stereotype that ‘Aurat hi aurat ki dushman hoti hai’ is nothing more than a misconception. People can dislike people all the time and move on with their lives peacefully irrespective of their gender.

She then addressed men and women, “To the men who love me and my work, I’m so very thankful for you. To the women who do the same, I wish I could hug each of you. This means a lot. Hiding names of these gorgeous women because I haven’t taken their consent, this is a VERY spontaneous post. ❤️❤️❤️” 

Well, Ashraf’s spontaneous post made our day!

Anoushey Ashraf Interviews Syra Yousuf For Her Mental Health Awareness Series

Pakistani celebrity, radio jockey and morning show host Anoushey Ashraf is known for standing up for human rights and kindness. She has recently started a weekly series on Mental Health Awareness called #igotyou with different renowned Pakistani celebrities.

She aims to inspire the current and upcoming generation and let them know that they are not alone in suffering anxiety and stress.

The first episode of the  #igotyou series features the very beautiful Pakistani actress Syra Yousuf. The actor who recently went through a divorce with Shahroz Sabzwari. There was a lot of talk about it on social media and more so when Shahroz married Pakistani model and celebrity Sadaf Kanwal. Syra was praised for her grace and attitude through it all. It can’t be easy when you are in the spotlight and your personal issues start trending on social media. But our favorite girl is back with a bang and nothing can bring her down. Her resilience is to be admired.Syra has now signed up as a brand ambassador for many famous brands including one of the most popular mobile brands in Pakistan, Oppo F17 Pro along with Pakistani singing sensation Asim Azhar.

Anoushey Ashraf was the host of Oppo’s F17 Pro launch that took place earlier this week. While on the sets of the show, Anoushey asked Syra about her way of coping with anxiety, how she keeps herself calm during a turmoil when things are not perfect in her life.

Syra answered that the best way she keeps herself calm is through meditation and the first step towards healing is acknowledging that you have a problem and recognizing the fact that there is absolutely no harm in seeking help. 

Syra adds that now many celebrities have started sharing their own stories related to chronic depression and mental illness through social media.  This is the best way for people to stand up for themselves and work on their mental health and there are plenty of options available now. Talking to somebody regarding your state of mind helps a lot in terms of depression.

Anoushey Ashraf’s initiative with a series of short interviews every week with famous celebrities will encourage others to acknowledge and deal with issues on mental health. She has always been vocal about spreading Mental Health Awareness as she has personally dealt and struggled with it when she broke up after years of being in a relationship.

We hope this initiative helps people stand up for themselves and realize the fact that they don’t have to walk down the road of mental illness alone.
