Celebrities, media personalities, influencers and the general masses have created an uproar on social media regarding the Israel Palestine conflict . From Hollywood celebs to Bollywood, many renown celebs such as Mia Khalifa, Swara Bhaskar, Kangana Ranaut and more have posed on their social media accounts in support of Palestine and the atrocities being carried out against them.
Netizens have however, trolled Malala Yousufzai for staying quiet on the issue and instead posting about her new deal with Apple. Netizens continue to call Malala out for remaining quiet on the matter and have praised former adult star, Mia Khalifa who has expressed her views candidly without any reservations.
On Twitter, she wrote,
“If one can observe the Palestinian situation and not align with the Palestinian cause, then they find themselves supporting the wrong side of apartheid, and history will inevitably reveal this truth in due course.”
A twitter user from Pakistan responded to her saying she did a lot more than our nobel laureate winner, Malala.
“You spoke more than our Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala and earned immense respect for this action.”
Khalifa however did not let this slide and came to Malala’s defence. She thanked the user for the sentiment but disagreed with the criticism.
She emphasised the importance of being empathetic to individuals dealing with the trauma of real-time events. Khalifa highlighted that freezing in response to traumatic situations is not uncommon, and people may feel overwhelmed. She stressed the necessity of allowing individuals the time to address issues at their own pace. Khalifa also praised Malala as a trailblazer for human rights, describing her as an inspiration and a guiding beacon for many.
