Even multinational consumer goods company, Unilever has time and again pointed out the use of plastic and promoted sustainable living. In Pakistan, Unilever has often been spotted carrying out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaigns and other activities to make the planet a better place to live in the future.

This time, however, Unilever Pakistan wants us to #FacethePlastic as a genuine pressing problem. More than 3.3M tons of plastic is wasted each year in Pakistan equating to about twice the height of the K2 mountain. Now, Unilever aims to reduce it.

What is Unilever Doing to Solve the Plastic Issue?
Unilever is making sure that plastic stays in the economy but out of our environment. Unilever’s key goal is to create a circular economy system for plastics waste management in Pakistan. This will be done by testing new economic models, industrial, and consumer behaviour, policy shift and, engaging the private sector, and other non-traditional partners.
Unilever’s 2025 Plastic Packaging Commitment
Last year, Unilever made a plastic packaging commitment that by 2025 it will halve its use of virgin plastic, by reducing its absolute use of plastic packaging by more than 100,000 tonnes and accelerating its use of recycled plastic and also help collect and process more plastic packaging than it sells. Secondly, by accelerating use of recycled plastic in their packaging.
