Zarqoon Mughal – A Future CSS Officer
WOW360: How did you decide to be a patrol officer? Did your family support you?
ZM: I aspire to be a CSS officer, uniform is my passion. I always wanted to be a part of the force, my entire family remained supportive of my decision and journey, especially my father.
When this opportunity was announced, my father encouraged me to take the exam, his support is unmatched. In fact, seeing me in uniform was his dream.
WOW360: As a female officer, what issues doSeeingis line of work?
ZM: Being a female I face quite a lot of issues, for instance, the beat where I am posted is about 1.5 to 2 hours away, so apart from the 8 hours of duty, I have to manage 3 hours of extra traveling that too in local vehicles.
Sometimes, stereotypical males deny being challenged by a female officer as they consider it their humiliation, so their counseling takes effort and time.
WOW360: You’re breaking barriers, which male figures have supported you on this journey?
ZM: I’d like to mention here that asides from my father who has remained my biggest motivator and support, my field colleague Saeedullah Khoso has also shown unmatched support.
I call him Ustad-e-Mohtaram. He has taught me from alpha to omega about the field, how to deal with people, handle issues managing them, and not take all of that back home with me.
WOW360: What comes next for you?
ZM: Still, I’ve got a long way to go, InshaAllah, I’ll fulfill my father’s dream to see me as a CSP. I am passionate about writing too so I am hoping to excel in the field of poetry too.
