Netizens Call Out Pakistani Celebrities & HUM Awards for Grand Scale Event in Canada as Pakistan Continues to Drown

While Pakistanis are often seen coming out in support of their favourite celebrities, this time around, they are extremely disappointed in most of them.

As Pakistan continues to drown as a result of the monsoon rains, some of our beloved celebrities are having the time of their lives in Canada preparing for the grand scale event – HUM Awards 2022.

Netizens are outraged as to how these celebrities, instead of helping the 1/3 of the country’s population who has suffered, are enjoying carrying out activities such as kayaking, bungee jumping, and shopping.

Moreover, social media is criticising them for not being proactive like Mufti Menk, Angelina Jolie, or even our very own Hadiqa Kiani who has been on-ground helping the survivors.

As a response, the trend #BoycottHumAwards started to pick up.

Celebs Face Major Criticism on Choice of Dresses at Hum Style Awards 2021 Red Carpet

Just like every year, HUM style awards red carpet looks are making headlines. Sadly, this time around, there is a lot of misses than hits.

Overall, there was a blend of both eastern and western wear. However, the latter seems to have caught the public’s attention the most. While some gave their creative criticism over the dresses celebs wore, others whole-heartedly complained about showing more skin.

Seemi Raheel took it to her Instagram and said for a Pakistani style award; this certainly looked like a western fashion show. She questioned: Do we, as Pakistanis, have no cultural identity left? Actors Bilal Qureshi and Faizan Sheikh also complained about actresses opting for revealing clothes. Both pointed out how these women are talented and beautiful and would do great in a simple yet classy outfit.

Fahmeen Ansari

Model Fahmeen Ansari’s dress lacked taste and was Atypical. Other than that, the model’s dress was heavily criticized for being the most revealing, putting her abs on display. Hailey Bieber wore a very similar style while she was on her vacation.

Sonya Hussyn

Sonya Hussyn’s Neon suit was admirable only to the extent of a photoshoot that was earlier revealed. At the event, we witnessed her neon suit – now buttoned – truly an ill fit. Designed my MAHGUL, the look had potential but was clearly a wasted opportunity.

Ali Xeeshan

Ali Xeeshan’s ‘King of the Hill’ suit was a miss. Even though he is popular for his unusual looks, it was a major miss this time around, especially with a polka dot bathrobe with a neon green neck paired with gold details.

Amar Khan

Even though the colour of Amar Khan’s dress is beautiful, the cut is not one bit flattering on her body. The sleeves with the tight fit don’t work out altogether.

Alizeh Shah

Another ill-fitted number from last night. Alizeh Shah’s black dress had a lot of potential, and who goes wrong with black? However, the dress just wasn’t up to the mark. The dresses’ body didn’t compliment Shah’s.

Aima Baig

An off-shoulder gown with a ponytail didn’t look right for Baig. The event was formal, and her look was rather causal. Let’s say the jewellery may have saved some points here – however, overall, it is another miss.

HUM Style Awards 2021 took place in Lahore yesterday. The award function was just as we imagined, star-studded, filled with lightning performances, and a lot of laughter. The award function was hosted by superstar Ali Zafar and stylish Urwa Hocane.

Regardless of the limited number of fashion shows this past year, Hum style awards are back to rock the stage and provide us with unlimited entertainment. 16th June: After a year of limiting glitz and extravaganza of award shows to virtual mediums, Pakistan’s premier entertainment network, HUM Network Limited, is all set to host the return of red carpets, haute couture and trendsetting fashion statements with its star-studded show Kashmir HUM Style Awards. The ceremony will be held at Pearl Continental,
in the city of Lahore on 4th July 2021. The presenting sponsor of the mega award show is Kashmir.

Featuring the biggest celebrities of the film, drama, music and fashion fraternity, the night will celebrate and acknowledge the stylish and trendsetting stars of the entertainment and fashion industry in numerous categories, with the exciting new category of Fashion Stylist of the Year.

Awards will be given on the following Fashion-based categories:

●  Fashion Photographer of the Year 2020
●  Hair & Makeup Artist of the Year 2020

The grand ceremony will be hosted by the stunning actor-producer Urwa Hocane and a superstar heartthrob, a duo unseen before. The entertainment-packed evening will feature powerful performances from celebrities including the very talented Abdullah Siddique, Alizey Shah, Aima Baig, Risham Faiz Bhutta and more.

President HUM Network Limited, Sultana Siddiqui says, “The mega-brand of HUM Style Awards empowers our artists from the booming entertainment and fashion landscape of the country. We are proud to be at the forefront of the entertainment industry and invested in its growth and will continue our patronage to the industry. With a special focus on the safety of the attendees, dedicated measures will be adopted to ensure all Covid-19 SOPs are followed. The flagship event is conceptualized, designed and directed by the Hum Network Special Project and Events team. The hair & makeup will be managed by industry leader Nabila with N-Pro and N-Gents teams. The official stylists for the evening are Ammal Quadri and Mehek Saeed. The Red Carpet will be hosted by Munib Nawaz. The performances will be choreographed by Shazy and the performance costume stylists are Ebtisam Ahmed and Honey Haroon. The event’s backstage will be handled by Production 021. The PR and press will be managed by Take II PR. Giveaway partners for the event are Baabu, Body Essentials, Pearle, Aijaz Aslam Store & A Room of our Own [ARO].
