Ride-hailing app Careem Pakistan has launched an exciting opportunity for retired senior citizens: an exclusive internship that will span for four weeks.
This reminds us heavily of Nancy Meyers American comedy-drama, The Intern, that came out six years ago, featuring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro in lead roles. The film revolves around a 70-year-old widower, Ben Whittaker, who realises that he is not cut out for retirement.
One fine morning, he came across a pamphlet while on a grocery run that said that an e-commerce site has an opening for senior retired citizens. Ben applies to become a senior intern immediately for a sceptical boss at an online fashion site.
Senior Internships: Outreach Programs
The senior internship is usually part of an outreach program. The outreach program aims to “help, uplift, and support those who are deprived of certain services and rights. It involves giving learning, social planning, health support, and other projects for their welfare.”
Who is Careem Looking for?
Careem is looking for senior interns who have retired from their jobs. However, remain curious to learn and work. While no upper or lower age limit is mentioned, the post specifies individuals who are retired. (Somewhere in the late ’60s or ’70s).
