COVID-19 lockdown was particularly hard on the entertainment industry. Moreover, directors and producers witnessed a massive loss as they had to shut down multiple projects. The inflation that accompanied the new government also make it harder for projects to bounce back.
Even post-lockdown, while some films were able to see the new day, there were a few who could not make it. Most recently, writer and director Yasra Rizvi, took it to social media to announce that despite the investment and hard work, it was decided that her upcoming ‘Senti Aur Mental’ had to be shelved.
She penned down her thoughts in the caption, stating:
‘I lost a lot of money and hard work shelving this venture probably because it wasn’t good enough work or maybe I evolved during all the waiting but either way to tell you the truth it didn’t upset me as much as one would imagine. I still get up, dress up (okay I wear clothes) and show up trying to do ME every day. What’s better than becoming more YOU in the process? The defeated and broken me is also me in fact my biggest asset because that’s what drives me the most to keep at it coz I mean c’mon what there to lose really. I have lost plenty in the course of life and then gotten more to lose again. Yaheen kamaaya aur yaheen kho diya tou phir kya masla hai end mein tou sab ne mar hi jana hai so live notoriously and never regret following your heart! Just go for it!’
Rizvi gave a special shoutout to all the actors who were a part of the project, including Irfan Khoosat, Beo Zafar, Nimra Bucha, Laila Wasti, Laila Zuberi, Saifi Hassan, Javed Jamal, Sajeer ud Din Khalifa, Sabiha Hashim, Sohail Sameer, Arez Ahmed, Faryal Mehmood, Zain Afzal, Jenaan Hussain, Faisal Imtiaz, Roha Qazi, Zille Huma, Iman Sumair and Kiran Siddiqui.
Actress Sarwat Gillani replied by stating that a bank account should be opened where people can send money to help sponsor the film because we Pakistanis have a big heart and are always ready to help others in need.
Crooner Momina Mustehsan also shared her two cents, claiming that she loved the trailer and that it would have been an absolute treat if the movie was coming out.
Rizvi’s ‘Senti aur Mental’ is not the only project that had to be pushed away with a heavy heart, 2 days ago, actor, director and producer Faysal Qureshi took it to his social media to announce that despite all the hard work and efforts to keep the project alive, the fq films and Sj films produced film ‘Sorry’ had to be shelved.
He wrote: ‘Presenting the first and last look of Sorry a love story, produced by fq films and Sj films, directed by Sohail Javed, producer @faysalquraishi, written by @asmanabeelan and Sohail Javed Dop @muaziqbal associate director – Hassan Mukhi.
We hope these projects find a way to come back. until then, stay tuned to WOW360 for more news and updates/
