Nayyab Ali is a Pakistani human rights defender, transgender activist and social scientist with over 10 years of experience working for gender equality, economic empowerment, and livelihoods.
Moreover, her work has been recognized by UN agencies for advocating transgender rights. Nayyab is also Chairperson of the All Pakistan Transgender Election Network and manages the ‘Khawaja Sira Community Centre’ in Okara.
This community centre offers a basic literacy and numeracy programme, vocational training, life skills education and driving classes for the transgender community.
However, recently, Nayyab opened up about an incident in which she shared that a fellow officer almost took her like inside a police station.
Reportedly, Nayyab took it to social media to claim that she was almost killed with attempts on her life and that if a trans officer is not safe inside the station, how will others be.
I was almost just killed by another officer of the law like myself. 2 attempts and no other officers stopped him. If a trans police officer is not safe inside a police station then what will happen to my sisters! Occurred at Ramna police station Islamabad.

Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) also shared an official tweet on their social media asking for protection for the activist. They tweeted:
HRCP is shocked to learn about the vile treatment meted out to trans rights activist @nayyabalipk by Ramna police station officers. HRCP urges the state to provide protection for Nayyab, who has already suffered attempts on her life before, and hold the perpetrators accountable.

Many transgenders from the community spoke up after this incident went viral. One of them tweeted:
How long we would clap for our rights? People in power show some empathy. @nayyabalipk is our fighter, our hope. If we aren’t safe within the Police station, where on earth, we could be safe. @CMShehbaz @BBhuttoZardari, please look into the matter, and provide us with safety
