Global icon and crooner Selena Gomez has been through a lot in recent times. Despite her health conditions being out in the public, trolls keep on body-shaming her.
On and off the starlet has been trolled for her weight gain, but she tries her best not to let it get to her. This time around, she clapped back at her trolls with a much-needed education lesson on medicated weight gain.
Selena Gomez recently wore her heart on her sleeve and talked about her recent weight gain, as well as the health woes that caused it. She addressed everything in a new video shared to Twitter.
In the video, she explained, “When I’m taking it, I tend to hold a lot of water weight, and that happens very normally. When I’m off of it, I tend to kind of lose weight.”
“I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through and no one knows the real story.”
Despite the major toll it’s all taken on her mental health, Gomez admits she focuses on the bigger picture instead. I just want people to know that you’re beautiful, and you’re wonderful,” she also added in the video.

Selena Gomez’s Awareness of Medicated Weight Gain is Much Needed
In this time and era of social media where empathy and sympathy have fallen short, celebrities like Selena Gomez spreading awareness is a much-needed initiative.
Medicated weight gain is a common side effect of many medications, including certain antidepressants, antipsychotics, and steroids. While these medications can be essential for managing medical conditions, the weight gain that often comes with them can be challenging and can lead to body shaming.
Body shaming is a societal issue that has been prevalent for many years. It involves making negative comments about someone’s appearance, often with the intention of making them feel bad about their body. This can lead to feelings of low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression, and can even contribute to the development of eating disorders.
It is essential to end body shaming and embrace body positivity. Everyone’s body is unique, and it is important to recognize that there is no one “ideal” body type. Instead, it is crucial to focus on healthy habits and self-care, rather than the number on the scale.
For those who are experiencing medicated weight gain, it is important to speak with their healthcare provider. They can work with their provider to manage their medication’s side effects, and discuss any concerns they may have.
It is also important to prioritize self-care and healthy habits, such as exercise and healthy eating, to support overall well-being. However, it is essential to recognize that weight is not always an accurate measure of health and that mental and emotional health is just as important.
In addition, it is crucial to support and uplift others, regardless of their body shape or size. Making positive comments about someone’s appearance or focusing on their talents and achievements, rather than their appearance, can go a long way in promoting body positivity and ending body shaming.
