The mesmerising childhood tale of Umro Ayyar has been revamped and is soon coming to life. The fantasy film that is expected to release soon has created a buzz over social media after the cast and official movie handle shared yet another fresh look!

The upcoming Pakistani movie is directed by Azfar Jafari and is under production by VR Chili Production.

The movie “Umro Ayyar – A New Beginning” is currently in the works and is based on and inspired by the character of Umro Ayyar and his extraordinary abilities. The film features a talented cast including Sanam Saeed, Usman Mukhtar, Adnan Siddiqui, Simi Raheal, Danial Raheal and Manzar Sehbai.

Its purpose is to revitalize enchanting stories for both contemporary Pakistani viewers and a worldwide audience. For every 90’s Pakistani kid, Umro Ayyar’s interesting and magic-filled novels have played a significant part in their childhood and were a part of every child’s story telling time.

After the first look of Sanam Saeed in a fierce warrior-like avatar, a glimpse of who seems to be Usman Mukhtar was released and of-course the trailer which set twitter on fire!

The latest to be released online is yet another first look of Umro Ayyar’s cast member, Sana Fakhar in a unique look. It looks like the actress will be seen playing some sort of witch who can cast dark spells on people. Sana’s avatar is sending chills down our spine and the caption also sheds light on the type of character she will be playing in the fantasy movie.

In a recent interview, Sanam Saeed talked about her upcoming film:

“Umro Ayyar is based on an Urdu literature novel but we are not making a film on that novel, it’s a version of it, a folklore-inspired superhero film that discovers the character of Umro Ayyar in a new-age way.”

She further added,

“There is a bit of Umro Ayyar’s backstory, integrated with modern times, how in today’s day and age, you can incorporate Umro Ayyar.”

Delving into a little background on Umro Ayyar, the story of this ‘revamp’ revolves around the beginning of Umro Ayyar who has been a popular character from the famous novel Hamzanama or Dastaan e Amir Hamza of the ’80s and ’90s. In the novel, Umro Ayyar was shown as a person full of energy, wit and courage. He fought evil for fame and money. The novel, Hamzanama dates back to the Mughal era of Jalaluddin Akbar and was penned by Ghalib Lakhnavi.

We are anxiously waiting to see what the fantasy film has in store for us. While the movie was earlier set to release in 2021, it has been postponed to a later date but is rumoured to finally release this year.

The title reveal of the film piqued the interest of people across social media and movie enthusiasts have been looking forward to the release of the film.
