If you are a Pakistani content creator looking for a way to boost your income and monetize your original content, you’re in luck! Creators can now earn money from YouTube Shorts.
According to a recent report, there are more YouTube users in Pakistan than Facebook users, and now the world’s largest streaming platform has announced a new earning method starting in February 2023.
YouTube Shorts is a new version of the streaming website where Content Creators share short videos like TikTok. For the past year, the popularity of YouTube shorts has seen an increase and now YouTube has also started the feature of earning money from it.
According to the complete policy issued by YouTube content creators earning money from YouTube shorts will have to accept the rules of the website and this will require content creators under the age of 18 to include their parents in the consent rules.
According to YouTube content creators will be paid to run ads through short videos. Ads will run on YouTube shorts and 45% of the earnings from advertising will be provided to content creators. A content creator with 1 million YouTube shorts views will be able to get up to $900 US dollars (this amount can vary).
On the other hand, YouTube Short’s website has made it clear to creators that they will not be able to earn on videos that have already been uploaded to YouTube while no earnings will be made on videos that have been made by editing clips of movies or songs.
Eligibility
So why is the streaming giant allowing users to earn from Shorts? The tech company is revising its requirements for joining the YouTube Partner Program. Starting in October 2022, Shorts were included in that requirement.
However, as of January 2023, that is no longer the case, as per the recent update on YouTube’s Partner Program overview and eligibility support page. Now, the eligibility requirement has been modified, where one has to either have 4,000 hours of non-Shorts content or 10 million views on public Shorts within the last 90 days. However, in both cases, creators must have a minimum of 1,000 subscribers to be eligible.
What are your two cents about this new method of earning?
