Meta Drives Conversations on Responsible Content Creation with the Pakistani Facebook Community

Meta has collaborated with Ali Gul Pir – Pakistani content creator and comedian – to host a four-episode weekly podcast #CreatewithCare. It has been designed to foster candid conversations with the Facebook community about building connections for positive experiences and creating content thoughtfully.

The last episode of the podcast was recorded live at a Meet & Greet event that Meta hosted at Avari Towers Karachi on Sunday, June 29. Content creators, Amtul Baweja and Mansoor Qureshi participated as guests and discussed the importance of sharing with care online.

Dr. Priyanka Bhalla, Meta’s Head of Safety Policy for South Asia, joined the conversation and discussed tools that are accessible to Facebook users to keep themselves safe on the platform. She said, “At Meta, we want people to have safe, positive experiences online. We provide tools and resources to help them enjoy their time on our platforms while staying safe and away from harmful content and unwanted contact.”

At Facebook, people can explore the things that matter to them and connect with people who share their interests. The event in Karachi is part of Meta’s initiative to connect with the Facebook community in Pakistan. It was attended by content creators, Facebook Group admins, digital publications and small business owners who started their journeys on Facebook.

“I’m Not Apologising for a Joke”, says Ali Gul Pir After Arrest Warrant Issued in Ali Zafar’s Defamation Case

On the 9th of September, news of arrest warrants issued against host and actress Iffat Omar and comedian Ali Gul Pir made rounds on social media in singer Ali Zafar’s defamation case.

A Lahore court has issued a bailable arrest warrant for Iffat Omar while a nonbailable arrest warrant for comedian Ali Gul Pur in a defamation lawsuit filed by Ali Zafar. Both are suspected to be part of a group that supposedly ran a smear campaign against the singer-turned-actor.

In response to the non-bailable warrant against him, Ali Gul Pir wrote a cryptic tweet for Ali Zafar on the microblogging site. He said, “No matter how many warrants I get, I’m not apologising for a joke I made 3 years back. I’m gona fight it. Any wannabe k-pop singing midlife crisis ****star can try his best, you will only get what you deserve. End of your already dying career by the truth #freedom #Justice.”

Suspects Failed to Appear in Court

Earlier, actor Iffat Omar, Faizan Raza, Haseemur Zaman, Fariha Ayub, and Leena Ghani were asked to attend the court hearing in Lahore. However, all had failed to attend the hearing before the magistrate. They filed the pleas seeking exclusion from personal appearance.

The members cited the reason for which was living and working in Karachi and being permanent residents. They pleaded that they couldn’t appear before the court at all the hearings in Lahore because of these reasons.

On Wednesday, Magistrate Rehman rejected the ground taken by the suspects and rejected their applications for a permanent exclusion. Upon which he had also issued arrest warrants for Iffat Omar and Ali Gul Pir.

On Monday, The Supreme Court (SC) approved a preliminary hearing of Meesha Shafi’s case against Lahore High Court’s (LHC) order in the workplace harassment case against Ali Zafar. Notices were issued to the singer and Advocate General Punjab by a three-judge bench of the apex court led by Justice Mushir Alam.

Twitter Challenges Miftah Ismail Over His Claim of Putting 4 Cocomos in a Rs. 5 Pack

There is food that you eat, and then there is food that you snack on to fulfill your cravings. For most of us, an average eating day is a breakfast, lunch, and then dinner, but for most of us, shaam ki chai with cocomo is essential. However, in the past years, we have witnessed how our favorite biscuits have cut down on the amount that goes into more miniature packs.

Famous comedian Ali Gul Pir called out Miftah Ismail on Twitter over the issue. He said in a tweet: “We want our demands met. We want 5 Cocomos in every pack!”

Following Ali’s tweet, many joined the cause.

Where Did it all Begin?

Lawyer Reema Omer on Twitter said she found only three cocomos in her Rs. 5 pack. She said: “Oh, the disappointment of opening a packet of cocomo and finding only three instead of the usual four biscuits.”

Following that, someone remembered an interview where the Ex-finance minister Miftah Ismail said in a pack is supposed to have five cocomos.

Teen to Zulm Hai!

Someone then linked a part of the interview where the ex-minister said there should be 4. In the interview, he explained why the cuts had taken place. He accused PTI’s government of the increased ‘mehngai,’ which is why you get four cococmos and not five anymore.

“I can assure you a packet has four,” said the businessman-politician.  “If you’ve gotten three, then that’s probably just bad luck because the counting is done by a machine,” he said.

Reema Omar went ahead and opened three packs of cocomo only to find out three cocomos sat in the little packet of Rs.5, which proved that there are only three cocomos in the packet, and people are complaining rightly so.

If you are an avid cocomo consumer, you must have also noticed that certain biscuits come without chocolate which makes us wonder if the machines in place are the culprits or the people who have set the machine on such settings that it deliberately skips chocolate in some packs and one cocomo in others.
