Just a short couple of months ago, Ocean Mall was under fire for an escalator incident which left a young child amputated. A 3-year-old boy was badly injured after his leg got stuck and the authorities were allegedly having trouble with the emergency button.
Following it, many families started to boycott the mall, calling it unsafe. Just a couple of days ago another woman shared an account of how she went to the said mall with her family, and that her son’s slipper was also caught in the escalator, but he thankfully was able to move out of harm’s way.
Recently, another social media user shared an account on a private group, sharing that she had gone to the mall with her family for dinner, however, while they were in the elevator, it fell and the doors were not opening. She writes:
Hello girls.. I went to the ocean mall around 10:30 pm today for Kolachi restaurant which is on the 5th floor.. I was with my family. We were 9 members in total (2 toddlers). We parked our cars in Basement 1.
The guard asked us that aik lift mein 4 logh jayenge so pehle jo lift aai usmein 4 logh chalay gaye second lift basement 2 mein thi so baaqi logh uska wait karahe thay including me. Lift aai and humne floor ka button press kiya.. lift chali ground floor per jaaker stuck hogayiii and naa toh lift ka darwaza khul raha tha naa lift ooper jarahi thi.. and suddenly lift zor se basement 1 mein jaaker gir gayi..
Itna sudden and teiz ke hum sb itna ziada darr gaye ke ye kia huwa.. Mere husband ne foran lift ka open button press karna start kardiya toh lift phir b nahi khulrahi thi.. After 2 to 3 minutes darwaza khul gaya.. hum sb baaher aaye and humne saamne guards ko complain ki shor kiya toh usper unhone kaha aap logh dusri lift par chalay jayen..
Mere husband ne unse kaha ke aap isi waqt management mein se kisi ko bulayein toh koi b nahi aaya.. Guards humein bas yehi kehrahe thay ke abhi time ziada hogya hai koi b nahi haiii iswaqt.. 15 mins wahan kharay hoker hum wapas aagaye..
Yahan ye post isliye kiyaa taakay aap loghon ko bata sakoon ke please ocean mall naaa jayein.. pehle bhi aik bachay wala incident huwa and now this.. Allah ka shukar hai ke humein koi nuqsan nahi huwa but woh jo 3 mins lift mein thay woh bohat buray thay, kuch b bura hoskta tha.. Allah hum sab ko mehfooz rakhay. Ameen.
Families have become worried about taking their loved ones to the said mall for shopping and leisure. While the mall has not responded yet to the claim made by the user, we will be following this story to see what happens next.
