I remember scrunchies from the time I was in school, somewhere between 2000-05. My mom tied my hair with one every morning, which I absolutely despised but had to participate in the cringe-worthy fashion trend for her sake. I remember reaching to school and taking it off instantly to wear a rubber band before class.
Fast forward to 2021, I see it on everyone’s wrist – celebrities, influencers, friends – as though it is a bracelet and, of course, to tie a high ponytail. Surprisingly enough, it looks quite nice now with minimalistic accessories and solid colours. Thanks in part to their rapid rise in popularity and quality, it is seemingly impossible to avoid them now.
Safe to say, scrunchies are officially back from the 90s, and their comeback is no surprise, really? I mean, we have all witnessed 90’s glasses, rebellious streaks, and other trends make a comeback. Actresses such as Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, and model Bella Hadid have also been caught rocking the 90s vibe, and so can you!
The only difference between scrunchies is really the kind of material they are made of. These can be made out of silk, velvet, cotton, skinny, huge etc. but can be worn differently to achieve that 90s glam.
