‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ and ‘Cake’ famed actress Sanam Saeed recently took to Instagram to encourage women to speak up and use their voices against the rise in domestic violence, physical and emotional abuse, harassment, and the murder of innocent girls.
With the recent happenings around the world, there is a wave of anger in the air. Recently, an Iranian girl, Mahsa Amini, was brutally murdered for not wearing her hijab correctly. Following this incident, the women of Iran protested by cutting their hair and setting their hijabs on fire.
On the other hand, the rape and murder of Noor Mukadam sent shockwaves across the country, people had not even recovered from it when we heard about the demise of Sara Inam, who was killed by her husband of just 3 months during a dispute.
Saeed’s story was accompanied by a posture portraying women dressed in a variety of clothes ranging from western to eastern to a complete burka and a child dressed in a school uniform with “misogyny,” “murder,” “emotional abuse,” “rape,” “child abuse,” “sexual assault,” “moral police,” “victim blaming,” “harassment,” and “honour killing” plastered all over its background.

She added:
We’re targeted for what we wear, what we stand for, what we look like, what we sound like, who we’re with, where we go…. [the list] is never-ending. Disgusting. Societal pressures across the globe are making it impossible for women to thrive. But we’re not going to stay silent about it! Keep your voices raised,
Saeed will be seen with Fawad Khan in Aan, an upcoming feature film that will also star Zara Noor Abbas in a lead role. The film is directed by Haseeb Hasan and written by Umera Ahmed, also the writer for the drama serial Alif.
