Why Pakistani Couple Are Opting for Charity Over Lavish Weddings
Weddings are an integral part of Pakistani culture, and it is a time of great celebration for families. In recent years, however, a growing trend has emerged where newly wedded Pakistani couples are opting to give charity in place of holding lavish weddings. This trend has caught the attention of many, and there are a few reasons why couples are choosing to do this.
One of the primary reasons for this trend is the increasing awareness among Pakistanis about the need for social responsibility. As Pakistan is a country where poverty and social inequality are widespread, many young couples feel that they have a responsibility to contribute to the betterment of society. They believe that instead of spending large amounts of money on extravagant weddings, it is better to use that money to help those in need.
Another reason why couples are choosing to give to charity is the desire to set an example for others. By choosing to give to charity, they hope to inspire others to do the same. They believe that their actions will encourage others to think about the impact they can have on their communities and to make more responsible choices.
Moreover, some couples feel that a lavish wedding can be wasteful and unnecessary. They may believe that the money spent on such an event could be better utilized in supporting social causes. They may also feel that a grand wedding is more about showing off wealth and status rather than celebrating the union of two individuals.
It is also important to note that giving to charity is not a new concept in Pakistani society. Charitable giving, or “sadaqah,” is a fundamental part of Islam and is encouraged in the religion. Many Pakistanis believe that by giving to charity, they are fulfilling a religious obligation and earning rewards in the afterlife.
There are also practical benefits to giving to charity instead of holding a lavish wedding. For one, it is a more sustainable choice. Weddings often generate a lot of waste, from food to decorations, while donating to charity can have a lasting impact. Additionally, charitable donations are tax deductible, meaning that couples can receive a tax benefit for their contributions.
Overall, the trend of giving to charity instead of holding lavish weddings is a positive development in Pakistani society. It shows that people are becoming more socially conscious and are recognizing the need to support those who are less fortunate. It also highlights the importance of responsible choices and the impact that individuals can have on their communities. As this trend continues to grow, it is likely that more couples will choose to give to charity and set an example for others to follow.
