One of the world’s biggest tech giants Google has offered 15,000 annual scholarships for Pakistani students.
This announcement was made by Senator Dr. Afnanullah Khan, a member of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Technology in a conversation with a local newspaper.
he added that this opportunity for the youth of the country will revolutionize the IT sector in the coming years. He added that with modest planning, Pakistan’s IT exports can easily be increased to $10 billion in the next few years.
Moreover, the Senator shared that South Korea has allocated a loan of one billion dollars for Pakistan’s information technology sector at an interest rate of only 0.1% .
He further added that the American company wants to invest three and a half million dollars in Pakistan, similarly, the sale of 5G license will bring billions of dollars in foreign exchange as well as heavy investment. There are many areas in IT that Pakistan can focus on to become an IT powerhouse in the region very soon. Furthermore, investment in the IT sector pays off fairly quickly
He said that the export of IT manpower to a country like Japan is also an important project which is being worked on. Therefore, every effort will be made to increase the focus of the government on this sector as much as possible so that the obstacles coming in the way of foreign investment can be removed.
It is to be noted that Senator Dr Afnanullah Khan holds a PhD in Information Technology from Oxford University and has experience in completing IT projects worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Senator Dr Afnanullah Khan is the son of a former federal minister and a close aide of Nawaz Sharif’s late senator Mushahidullah Khan.
