The Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 tournament has created many milestones along the way. Not only is this world cup the biggest and most expensive, but is also being hosted by a Middle Eastern country for the first time.
One of the newest records Qatar accomplished was the first-ever recitation of the Holy Quran, and now Qatar has done it once again, for the first time ever female referees will be a part of the FIFA World Cup.
FIFA has released a list of 36 referees, 69 assistant referees and 24 video match officials overseeing the video assistant referee (VAR) system.
The female referees who are going to be a part of this historic tournament include Stéphanie Frappart (France), Salima Mukansanga (Rwanda) and Yoshimi Yamashita (Japan); assistant referees Neuza Back (Brazil), Karen Díaz Medina (Mexico) and Kathryn Nesbitt (US).
That’s not all, FIFA supports popular social trends and trends, so it was simply necessary to bring a female character to the football field. FIFA 23 features a female footballer on the cover, her name is Sam Kerr.
Moreover, now you can find female referees in the game as well! In order to use the new option, you need to enable it in the settings for the match. And for the first time in the history of the game, you will be able to find club tournaments from women’s football.
