The Sindh government has expanded its women-only Pink Bus Service by launching two new routes and offering free rides for female passengers for a period of two months. This initiative, part of the Peoples Bus Service, aims to provide safe and comfortable travel options for women in Karachi.
The new routes connect Powerhouse Chowrangi in North Karachi with Nasir Jump in Korangi and Gulshan-e-Hadeed to Tower. With the addition of these routes, the Pink Bus Service now operates on five routes, serving thousands of women commuters in the city.
Free Travel for Women:
Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced a two-month period of free travel for all women passengers on the new routes. This gesture aims to encourage more women to utilize the service and experience its benefits.
He further highlighted that the Pink Bus Service is a realization of the PPP’s manifesto, which prioritizes women empowerment. The service has received international recognition for its high-quality standards, affordable fares, and commitment to safety, showcasing the Sindh government’s dedication to empowering women in the region.
