Gone are the days when Pakistani women were pressured to play limited roles in society. Today, women from Pakistan are battling for their right to education, live free from violence, and discrimination, own property, vote, and earn a fair and equal wage.
Rukhsar Gul, Only Woman Participant from Pakistan Who Brought Back a Gold Medal
These women are not just turning tables; they are bringing back home gold medals and becoming the nation’s pride. One such woman is a Pakistani athlete Rukhsar Gul who won a Gold Medal in the 5th International Cultural Festival Romania (Europe) 2021. Rukhsar participated in the 65Kg category in the Mas-Wrestling event and won.
Majid Fareed, Basharat Ali, Majid Khan and Mohammad Rashid from Pakistan also Participated in the Event
Whilst Gul was the only woman who had participated in the Mas-Wrestling event, four men Majid Fareed, Basharat Ali, Majid Khan and Mohammad Rashid, also participated in the competitions. Majid participated in the 80Kg category, Basharat participated in the 90Kg category, and Rashid participated in the 90Kg category. Majid Fareed, Basharat Ali, and Mohammad Rashid won and successfully bagged a Gold Medal each – bringing back home four gold medals in total.
Majid Khan bagged a bronze medal in Mind Games and was equally appreciated for his participation and medal. On this occasion, Nawab Furqan, the President of the Pakistan Mas-Wrestling Federation, said that all five Pakistani athletes gave their best and performed very well and have become the nation’s pride.
