On the 9th of September, news of arrest warrants issued against host and actress Iffat Omar and comedian Ali Gul Pir made rounds on social media in singer Ali Zafar’s defamation case.
A Lahore court has issued a bailable arrest warrant for Iffat Omar while a nonbailable arrest warrant for comedian Ali Gul Pur in a defamation lawsuit filed by Ali Zafar. Both are suspected to be part of a group that supposedly ran a smear campaign against the singer-turned-actor.
In response to the non-bailable warrant against him, Ali Gul Pir wrote a cryptic tweet for Ali Zafar on the microblogging site. He said, “No matter how many warrants I get, I’m not apologising for a joke I made 3 years back. I’m gona fight it. Any wannabe k-pop singing midlife crisis ****star can try his best, you will only get what you deserve. End of your already dying career by the truth #freedom #Justice.”

Suspects Failed to Appear in Court
Earlier, actor Iffat Omar, Faizan Raza, Haseemur Zaman, Fariha Ayub, and Leena Ghani were asked to attend the court hearing in Lahore. However, all had failed to attend the hearing before the magistrate. They filed the pleas seeking exclusion from personal appearance.
The members cited the reason for which was living and working in Karachi and being permanent residents. They pleaded that they couldn’t appear before the court at all the hearings in Lahore because of these reasons.
On Wednesday, Magistrate Rehman rejected the ground taken by the suspects and rejected their applications for a permanent exclusion. Upon which he had also issued arrest warrants for Iffat Omar and Ali Gul Pir.

On Monday, The Supreme Court (SC) approved a preliminary hearing of Meesha Shafi’s case against Lahore High Court’s (LHC) order in the workplace harassment case against Ali Zafar. Notices were issued to the singer and Advocate General Punjab by a three-judge bench of the apex court led by Justice Mushir Alam.
