These women have shattered the glass ceiling and proven their mettle in a male-dominated field. They have made the country proud with their groundbreaking research, innovative ideas and exceptional achievements in various scientific disciplines.
Here is a list of some of the first Pakistani women scientists in their respective fields:
1. Dr. Uzma Yaqoob – First Pakistani woman to receive a PhD in molecular biology
Dr. Uzma Yaqoob is one of the pioneering women scientists in Pakistan, having been the first Pakistani woman to receive a PhD in molecular biology. She received her PhD from the University of Glasgow, UK, and her research focused on the molecular mechanisms of gene regulation in cells.
