5 Skincare Remedies to Turn to During Chilly Winters

We’d advise our readers to possibly stay indoors and remain comfortable and warm. The change in weather can result in upset health and ensure the children are well covered.

There are several ways to stay warm during the winter, especially for children:

  1. Dress in layers: Children should wear a base layer of moisture-wicking fabric (such as thermals or long johns), a middle layer of insulation (such as fleece), and an outer layer of wind- and water-resistant fabric. This will help trap warm air and keep out the cold.
  2. Cover exposed skin: Make sure that children are wearing hats, gloves, and scarves to protect their head, hands, and face from the cold.
  3. Stay dry: Keep children’s clothing and outerwear clean and dry. Wet clothes will cause them to lose heat faster than dry clothes.
  4. Stay active: Encourage children to stay active and play outside. Physical activity will help generate body heat and warm them up.
  5. Provide hot meals and drinks: Hot meals and drinks can provide a source of warmth for children and will help to fuel their bodies.
  6. Create a warm indoor environment: Keep the indoor temperature warm and maintain good indoor air quality with proper ventilation and humidifiers.
  7. Be aware of weather conditions: Pay attention to weather forecasts, and make sure that children are dressed appropriately for the conditions.
  8. Use caution around heat sources: Encourage children to keep a safe distance from open flames, stoves, and heaters to prevent burns and fires.
  9. Teach children about the cold weather’s possible effect on their health and how to deal with other emergencies if need be.

These are just a few tips for staying warm during the winter. It is always important to monitor children for signs of hypothermia and frostbite, such as shivering, slurred speech, and loss of feeling in the fingers and toes.
