COVID-19 has truly shown the real faces of people in a time of dire need. While some have turned their faces from the ones struggling during this unprecedented time, others have worked selflessly towards the cause of helping others; after all, the only way to survive this pandemic is to lift each other.
One such woman from Lahore, Syeda Ooje Fatima Rizvi, has set a mission to provide free nutritious meals to COVID-19 patients and their families for free. Yes, you heard that right! These meals are free of cost, are delivered free of cost, and can also be ordered by the families who have members hit by the virus.
Ooje Fatima prepares all the food sent out to the families in dire need to help on her own.
Where did it begin?
Syeda Ooje Fatima Rizvi’s friends got hit by the virus. She saw her friends in great agony because they were not just worried about themselves but their families, who they might as well infect. Ooje Fatima wondered there must be so many people who need help right now and do not have helpers to assist them. Overall, she realized that their situation is not great, and she can play a role in helping such families/individuals.
In the beginning, she began distributing food to 25 families. Later on, as more people knew about her initiative, the numbers multiplied. Now, she prepares food for 150 families every day. She has also hired people to help her out who have lost their jobs during the pandemic.
With the help of social media, Ooje Fatima was able to reach patients in hospitals too. She provides food to people from all walks of life, from any religion, as she strongly believes humanity comes first. She is also serving Sehri and Iftari in the holy month of Ramadan.
We need more people such as Ooje Fatima in this world.
