Meet Misbah: A Young Roadside Chef Who Wants to Join Pakistan Army

Faislabad’s Misbah Mehar is an example of strength, empowerment, and bravery. This young woman spends her days studying, while at night she helps her father.

Misbah works at a roadside restaurant as a cook. She made delicious barbeque from kabab to chicken tikka, she can make it all. Those who live near and far come from different neighbourhoods to eat her cooked food.

Misbah wants to join the Pakistan Army, she did not want to be a part of the profession always, but after she started to lend her father a hand, she joined it. She has been helping her father for 8 years now.

She even rides a bike and delivers piping-hot food to nearby locations as well.

During an interview with ARY news, her father shared that he was extremely proud of his daughter and that she has fulfilled the responsibilities of a son, for him his daughter is no less than that.

Misbah is an inspiration for young girls who do not let their financial circumstances come in the way of their dreams. Another example of this is  Karachi’s Alisha Jameel.

In a male-dominated society and profession, females find survival a hard task, while many give up, there are young and determined women like Alisha Jameel who are a ray of hope.

Belonging to the Drigh Road locality, Alisha is the youngest daughter of the late rickshaw driver Abdul Jameel. Her father’s untimely demise created tension in the household.

With no males in the household, it was up to his daughters to find a way out of unemployment with the rising inflation. That’s when Alisha decided that she will make her father proud while breaking the shackles the male-dominated society has put around her ankles.

On the other hand, Mahnoor from Lyari is also doing whatever it takes to provide a meal for her children at the table, even if it means driving a high-roof.

After taking a divorce from her former partner, Mahnoor took up the responsibility to raise and feed 3 children on her own. That is when she decided to take control of her life for the sake of her children and sit in the seat that has changed her life.

#JusticeForKhadija: Pakistani Celebrities Demand Justice for Girl Abducted & Sexually Harassed by Classmate & Businessman Father for Rejecting Proposal

­The hashtag #JusticeForKhadija took over social media today as the tragic story of the young medical student surfaced. Furious and outraged, social media and prominent figures are demanding that the victim identified as Khadija gets the justice she deserves.

Reportedly, the young lady was kidnapped, assaulted, and harassed by a group of men because she rejected a proposal of an influential businessman. Moreover, it was found that her classmate who happens to be her friend as well as the tycoon’s daughter was equally involved in the incident.

Moreover, videos of the assault have gone viral on social media, which clearly show that the woman was brutally slapped and abused for rejecting a man who is almost twice her age. Furthermore, Khadija was forced to lick their boots as an apology and had her hair chopped off as well to bring disgrace to her.

This business was identified as Sheikh Danish Ali and his daughter Ana Ali. What really enraged the sentiments of users was that with his contacts, the criminals behind this assault were released on bail.

Unfortunately, Khadija is not the only victim who is awaiting justice. Many girls fall victim to honour killing, assault, harassment, rape, and even acid for simply rejecting a man they do not want to spend the rest of their life with or for going against a man’s will, or even simply for disobeying him.

For many, a reason is not even required to justify the killing of a female as we have heard multiple times on the news that fathers have killed their daughters for not being able to make round bread (gol roti) or for over/under cooking food.

Despite being a progressive country and living in the 21st century, Pakistani men still murder the female child or prevent her from her rights to education and free will because many believe that her place is in the kitchen and if indeed, she receives education she will not be manipulated easily.

We hope that Khadija and women who have suffered from similar incidents get the justice they deserve and that one-day Pakistani women would be safe in the streets of their own homeland, without having to worry about the consequences of rejection.
