October 24th 2022:
Following the super success of Ms Marvel, Pakistan’s very own Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy may be gearing up to work on the next big thing – a Star Wars movie!
According to a publication called Deadline, Damon Lindelof is working on a secret Star Wars film for Lucasfilm and reportedly, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is in talks for directing it.
Insiders are saying that the script is still in process and is being written which means there’s still time for it to get into the production phase. That said, sources added it was important to Lucasfilm and Lindelof that a director be brought on so that person’s own vision for where they see this story headed gets included in the script.
Although no official statement has been released yet, fans are excited about the buzz. Chinoy recently received much praise and recognition for putting Pakistan on the map with Marvel Studios. Moreover, the world received its first Muslim superhero, an achievement for womankind as well.
According to the Deadline:
This Star Wars feature seems to have the most momentum out of all the films currently in development at the studio. 2019’s Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker was the last film to bow in theatres with the studio focusing on its TV projects over recent years since then. That said they have a number of films in development including this one and Lucasfilm has been pretty clear they want to make sure the next series of films have a story they are happy with and don’t see a need to rush out that next franchise.
We cannot wait to see what magic the Oscar winner brings to the table once the news is confirmed.
