Pakistani electronic engineer turned security guard, Mubashir has won Dh100,000 in Mahzooz Lucky Draw in Dubai.
The pandemic has turned out badly for some of us. Mubashir, a Pakistani ex-pat based in Dubai, was working as an electronic engineer in the UAE when suddenly the pandemic wreaked havoc in his life. He had to turn to an odd job to make ends meet and events security guard.
The 38-year-old Dubai-based resident told Khaleej Times, “I’m an electronics engineer who put my technical services business on hold and took up the job of an events security guard because of Covid-19’s economic backlash.”
He has won Dh100,000 in the 60th weekly live Mahzooz draw, which will transform his life forever. Mubashir told the UAE publication that he would be using a part of his winnings to revive his business and resume his professional dreams that he had to put on hold due to the pandemic.
He will also use the amount to bring his ailing father to Dubai for medical treatment. He said, “My father met with a workplace accident which has scarred his face and left him unable to walk; he hasn’t left the house since. Finding a way to give his life back to him is my dream.”
He told the publication that he couldn’t renew his business license and afford rent due to a lack of funds. “In June of 2021, I couldn’t afford my rent or my business’ license renewal fees. Some days, I couldn’t bear the pain of doing a job that was a downgrade for me. But thanks to God and Mahzooz, I can restart my life and fulfill so many of my dreams. This win is the biggest surprise of my life,” Mubashir said.
The weekly lucky draw by Mahzooz has changed many lives for the good. In the UAE, it is quite popular due to this very reason.
