NED University of Engineering and Technology (NED) and Global Soccer Ventures (GSV) will establish the first state-of-art city soccer stadium in Karachi, Pakistan.
GSV and NED University have put pen-to-paper on a US$ 12 million deal to bring Pakistan’s first-ever Soccer City Stadium, iconic addition to the City of Lights, Karachi. As per the agreement, the German engineers are to develop additional series of football infrastructure projects in the city. The innovative stadium will be designed by the German firm and will be equipped with all FIFA’s world-class facilities.
With the news making waves, GSV claims that Soccer City will “offer FIFA international playing conditions and an enduring football experience for fans and players with a raft of marketing and technology opportunities for brands.”

NED University vice-chancellor Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi said that he has “seen the science and evolution of football on offer and it will be a major transformation for football in Pakistan.”
GSV’s ambassador, Michael Owen, who is a former England striker, has said that the Soccer City “would not only ignite inter-city football rivalry but will also become the future of football development all over Pakistan.”
With cricketers, Pakistan also holds talented footballers, both male and female. However, due to the lack of infrastructure and investment in the sport, the talent has not been given a chance to nurture by sports authorities in Pakistan. Projects such as these will slew up the market and help build Pakistan as a footballing nation.

The Gilgit-Baltistan Girls Football League is one of the initiatives in the region taking a step further to promote sports in the region for women. It is a women-led football league that has been run by the Shimshali Sisters, Sumaira Inayat, and Karishma Inayat since 2018. The region has produced talented sportswomen in the past and is moving towards producing even more in abundance.
