National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has recently launched a new system that will allow the authorities to verify and renew identity cards efficiently. The step is taken to control the unauthorized issuance of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs).
According to an official of NADRA, this new system can verify/identify the issuance of the foreign person in the family tree system. This development has come weeks after Senate and National Assembly raised four million ‘fake CNICs’ being circulated in the system.

NADRA Employees Helping Foreigners and Militants
In a press conference earlier this month in Karachi, FIA Sindh Director Amir Farooqi revealed that in exchange for monetary gains, NADRA employees are actively helping Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), militants linked with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and Baloch sub-nationalist groups to get CNICs.
Amir Farooqi also highlighted that the operation would also help catch foreigners living in Pakistan illegally. According to him, the new tech is used to reach a fake identity card through artificial intelligence.

Citizens can easily get details from NADRA with easy steps. They can verify their family members by just sending SMS from their registered mobile phones to 8009. The system will automatically send details of the family tree, and if you wish, you can make changes if incorrect. Of course, to use this facility, citizens must register their mobile numbers from any Nadra center.
