This was the day I left the hospital… It was so overwhelming. And I need to say thank you to all of you for taking care of me, supporting me, carrying me in your prayers. Thank you for the kindness and the Strength. I remember the third day. The last words I heard before passing out were "Losing her.." I remember fading in all the noise & sirens, hands hitting my chest, I remember thinking the boys will be ok Who will take care of the dog and then before sinking away I remember saying to myself in my head "Gadhee kalma paRho!" A few days later I was lying in my cubicle. Curled up. I remember the solitude & silence feeling peaceful. I remember when the needles hurt me bad I would ask Allah, that if I have to feel this, ok, but let me feel You even stronger. I remember smiling when I feebly opened my phone and saw your messages. Every time I saw your words, I remember feeling loved. So loved. I truly am blessed I love you and belong to you JazakAllah Khair 💐 Yours Nado #thankyou #iloveyou #champions

Thank you dearest Helen from #addenbrookshospital #Diabetic team for explaining over two days, so patiently, the does and does of diabetes. How to give myself an insuli! Shot, check my sugar and ketones, what to do if I go into hypoglycemia 🙊or generally feel unwell. Thank you for the amazing tip of listening to #Prince during my #cancer #radiation and telling me your story of being a #cancersurvivor and warrior! Such a beautiful kind generous woman! Blessed blessed blessed I am!!! Fingers cross may go home tonight, so need to sort details and prepare my mind for a whole new world. The world outside the hospital cubicle. Beautiful, vibrant, full of life bit also leaving ones vunerable self exposed to people's dramas, climate, noise, judgments, invasiveness and loneliness. Best thing to do is expect minimally from others. Depend as much as one can on self. Focus my inner camera on nature, art, loving kindness and myself. Home sweet home …here I come. Diabetic but happy, relieved, excited and guess what….NO more chemo! Alhamdolillah Allah is Kind. Firm in the lessons that must be taught. How grateful I am I was not given up on. Not abandoned dismissed. If no one else hears me, Allah does. Sometimes more than I know or hear myself. Thank you ALL for keeping my spirits so high and full of love with your incredible messages, kind words and boosting support! #blessed #dischargedtonight #hospital #ifetbywithalittlehelpfrommyfriends #Helen #diabetes

As soon she got out, she was excited to return to a normal life. She had to get a lot of chores done, her flat sorted and looked forward to catching up on desi dramas while sipping on her mother’s chai.

She also revealed how she almost went into coma and the doctors had nearly lost her.

“There was a stage where it was difficult for me to perhaps come back. I was out. They were prepared to let me go but my heart and breath fought through those two nights.”
