We have lost so many precious lives since the beginning of the pandemic. COVID-19 has genuinely left its scars on humanity that will stay with us forever. Pakistani actress Bushra Ansari has also faced the death of a loved one because of the pandemic.
For weeks, her sister, Sumbul Shahid, an actress, was on a ventilator fighting for her life. During this period, Bushra Ansari and Asma Abbas requested fans on social media to pray for their sister’s health. However, with God’s will, Sumbul passed away.
In a talk show with Wasim Badami, the Dolly Ki Ayegi Baraat star shared how her ailing mother is still not aware that her daughter Sumbul Shahid had passed away in May after contracting the deadly virus. Ansari told Badami, “My mother won’t be able to get through the grief.”
For now, the family has told her that Sumbul is in San Francisco and can’t travel due to COVID-19 restrictions/flight cancellations. Bushra Ansari currently speaks to her mother on call, pretending to be Sumbul, since her voice is somewhat similar to Sumbuls.
“My mother’s almost blind, and she can’t tell the difference between us anymore. But her mind is still sharp,” she added. “Our priority right now is to keep her well. Our lives have changed. It’s hard to wrap our heads around it.”
Bushra Ansari revealed her sister Sumbul was already grief-stricken after her son Shiraz Nasir passed away while paragliding in Chitral.

The public made a considerable fuss after a clip of Ansari and Azaan was making rounds online. Recalling the incident, Ansari said, “A few months after Sumbul passed away, there was a wedding of a dear friend’s grandson. She called me and told me, ‘I’ve been hearing your grief-stricken voice for a very long time. I don’t want to see you like that anymore. You will do nothing but enjoy at the wedding.’ So, I danced with Azaan; he’s like my own child. People made such a fuss about it too.” She concluded, “We still try to keep our emotions intact. We try not to let them overcome. But we’re humans as well.”
