A woman plays multiple roles in her lifetime, she is a daughter, a sibling, a friend, a wife, a daughter-in-law, a mother, and whatnot. Every step of the way through all of these roles, she does a fantastic job of ensuring she completes all of her responsibilities with full honour.
One such fantastic woman is none either than Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad Marvi Malik Sher who not only fulfils her duties out of her home but in her house as well. Recently pictures of the young lady went viral in which she was not only doing justice to her dream job but was also taking care of chores at home.
She was applauded and saluted on social media for meeting the expectations of both sides as both roles are exhausting and consuming. Moreover, she has been titled as ‘Woman of Steel’ because of her determination. Not only is this the story of Marvi, but this also goes for hundreds of thousands of women in Pakistan too who juggle their careers as well as their families and homes without letting the other one fall.
However, according to a few individuals, while this does show the positive side of women, it also shows the level of responsibilities that are expected from her. She is ‘expected’ to earn, contribute, and is also expected to work at home without raising questions or objections.
On the other hand, this raises many questions such as why can’t men help? Why do men think if they help their wives they’ll be labelled as ‘Joru ka Ghulam’, moreover, why do families pamper their sons and spoon-feed them everything? Why can’t men help equally at home and provide a helping hand without having to ask?
If a woman can flawlessly manage everything herself, her better half supporting her will only help them live a happy and fulfilling life. A supporting household is a happy household, moreover, the children – especially the boys – grow up to respect women and are more responsible when it comes to helping the women figures in their lives.
We salute Marvi Malik Sher for being an icon to many women who think about giving up on their careers and likewise for being a symbol of encouragement.
