Actor, writer, producer, and director Shaharyar Munawar has once again left us completely stunned with his latest work ‘Mashaadi’ – a collaboration between Master MoltyFoam and Mashion Studio. The ad featuring the gorgeous Mahira Khan is not the same as the other ‘Nanni Paari’ ads we usually see.
This time around, Master MoltyFoam has a powerful and eye-opening message for all maternal homes and boy-oh-boy did they hit the hammer on the nail with this one!
The ad starts with Mahira Khan getting ready for her wedding, but you can tell by her expressions that she is not too happy. We then see a flashback of the bride-to-be having a heated argument with the to-be groom and in the moment, he does not hesitate to get physical with her.
With a heavy heart, Mahira opens up to her mother and father about the incident, to which the father’s reply was not the typical response we usually see in households.
This time, the father took his daughter’s side and stood by her decision to call the wedding, even if it meant sending the guests back home.
Importance of Speaking Up for Women’s Rights
The biggest lesson the brand shared with the entire nation is to speak up. Staying quiet about abuse doesn’t help a relationship, in fact, it makes it all the more suffocating.
Moreover, the brand also shared that according to a recent report by Pakistan Democratic and Health Survey, 1 in 4 ever-married women have experienced physical violence since the age of 15.
This includes violence from a spouse if ever-married, a relative other than partner/husband, in-laws, or other parties during pregnancy or otherwise.
The form of violence is anything from pushes, and shoves, to punches, slaps, kicks, strangulation attempts, burn marks, knife/gun threats, etc.
Hence, it makes it all the more important for women to speak out and even more important for their families to support them in their journey.
