In an exciting development, Lingerie Brand Floraison and SEED Ventures have joined the list of companies introducing paid period leaves for women employees in Pakistan.
In Pakistan, women are often seen struggling with maternal leaves or leaves taken otherwise during their period. There are relatively more men in the workforce, so the policies for women and solutions to their problems were not addressed earlier.
Now since there is a lot more awareness regarding issues of women, companies are finally coming out with policies to assist women in the workplace so they can continue their careers regardless of the problems that occur and can bring a stop to women leaving their careers midway.
Why Are Period Leaves Important for Women?
Many women experience bad cramps during their period, cannot leave their bed, and may require medication. Others may experience a heavy flow, and so during those days, it is socially awkward to leak through their clothes in an office setting. Period leaves can assist those women who may require a leave during their period without any hesitation.
A lingerie brand, Floraison, has come forward to support its female employees and offered paid leaves to its employees. “As an all-women organization, Floraison supports its employees and treats them like family. It is difficult to work in menstrual cramps and other symptoms like migraine & backache. We are proud to offer Paid leaves to all its employees in their menstrual cycle.”
Another company, SEED Ventures, has launched a new policy for its female employees on women’s day. The policy allows women to take paid days off during their period. “The policy allows female employees to take 12 paid days off per calendar year in light of menstrual discomfort- on top of the basic annual leave allowance. Here’s to women all across the world spreading light and power every day, no matter where they venture. Happy Women’s Day!”
