The Geneva International Model United Nations Conference ‘Future We Want’ GIMUN 2023
The assembly at the GIMUN 2023 – Future We Want Conference centred all deliberations and decisions around the issue of ‘Climate Change’ and the diverse nations’ strategies in spearheading endeavours to counter the impacts of Climate Change.
The young delegates participated in Team MJ led by Murtaza Jafry with a delegation of 8 Pakistani students with a majority of students belonging to Karachi Grammar School, one student hailed from Bayview Academy Karachi.
The students were part of a larger group of delegates where each were tasked with the representation of different countries part of the United Nations. The delegates also had to advocate for backing in order to ensure the successful adoption of their resolutions, distinguishing them from competing proposals.
Contrary to the usual format comprising multiple committees, this conference adhered to a singular committee dedicated solely to Climate Change. Furthermore, the number of Awards was significantly reduced to a mere six, intensifying the level of competition substantially. Furthermore, this resulted in the committee chair and co-chair facing an exceptionally challenging task in judging the delegates.
