We agree, indeed it is! Thousands of beggars flock towards the cities to beg for money and other items, instead of seeking employment that would allow them to earn money with dignity.

As of the latest available statistics, Pakistan continues to face challenges related to street begging.

According to a report by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) and various NGOs, there are an estimated 1.5 million beggars in Pakistan, with the majority concentrated in urban areas.

These statistics highlight the persistent issue of poverty and lack of economic opportunities in the country, leading many individuals to resort to begging as a means of survival. Despite efforts by the government and NGOs to address this issue through various initiatives, including vocational training and rehabilitation programs, the number of beggars remains high.

During the holy month of Ramadan and the festival of Eid, the number of beggars tends to increase significantly as people are more inclined to give charity. This influx of beggars into cities further exacerbates the issue and highlights the need for sustainable solutions to address poverty and provide livelihood opportunities for marginalized communities in Pakistan.
