Popular Pakistani singer Atif Aslam is cherished widely in the subcontinent. His music is relevant to many; however, not many of his fans know about his struggles. He revealed it all in a talk show called AB show, where he spoke about the struggles he had to go through. For the first time, Aslam got candid regarding his marriage, opened up about childhood problems, and revealed harsh reality on the road to success.
Childhood Troubles
In the interview, the pop star revealed that he is the youngest in his family, with a significant difference among his siblings, which formed a communication gap. He also blamed his stubbornness on the fact that he was the youngest in the family. He also spoke about not confiding in his family or showing any physical affection. He said, “I just knew they love me, and I love them.”. He added, “I have always been a naïve, sensitive kid who would disconnect with the world if not feeling right or in the correct headspace.”
Getting Introduced to NFAK
We all know how the time between your early 20s and late 20s is crucial for anyone wanting to succeed in life. Atif story is very familiar to any individuals. At the age of 23, he slipped into a lonely phase in life. He was depressed, and that is when his brother became his saving grace, who introduced him to NFAK. This is all where it began. NFAK’s music became a source of healing; Aslam started praying and found a sense of peace. He found himself inclined toward music and spirituality.
The story behind Atif Aslam Composing his First Song
Cleary, this sensational star didn’t come from the riches. He said in the interview that he had to save up quite a lot of his pocket money to compose his first song, which of course, wasn’t easy. He practised for hours and finally gathered the courage to record his very first song. “I saved and saved all my pocket money to make my first song and then finally uploaded my song on the internet.”
From the same money, he produced Aadat, a viral song of his. From there onwards, the star never looked back. His work was getting recognized by that time. He formed his band Jal next.
Atif Wanted to Become a Cricketer
Aslam had already stumbled upon cricket before going into music. Just like an average Pakistani kid, he was cricket crazy and wanted to play for team Pakistan. “I took more interest in taking wickets than achieving higher grades.” This led to Atif giving up cricket because like every desi parent, Atif’s parents wanted him to focus on his studies.”
Marriage Empowered Him
The star also spoke about his marriage having an impact on him. He said he’s been in the industry for over 18 years now, and there have been plenty of ups and downs in his life but what truly empowered him was his marriage, aka his partner Sarah Bharwana. He said she became his pillar of strength in his life.
