Pakistani actress Nimra Khan recently shared a harrowing experience that has left her shaken and questioning the safety of women in the country. In an emotional video posted on her Instagram, the Umm-e-Ayesha star revealed that she was nearly abducted outside the Ramada Karachi Creek Hotel while waiting for her car.
In the video, Khan, visibly distressed, recounted the terrifying ordeal where three armed men on a motorcycle approached her, one of whom allegedly pressed a gun to her stomach. Despite having her mobile phone in hand, which could have alerted others to her plight, the men attempted to kidnap her.

“I saved myself,” Khan said through tears. “They held onto me and were trying to take me with them. They had a gun to my stomach. I started yelling but no one heard me.” She added that although four security guards were present nearby, none of them responded to her cries for help.
Khan bravely fought back, shoving the assailants’ motorcycle, injuring her foot in the process, and then running into oncoming traffic to escape. A family in a passing car came to her aid, after which the hotel’s team rushed to protect her and take her inside.
“I could have been shot from the back, but I saved myself. I am a victim,” Khan emphasized, expressing her frustration and fear. The actress lamented the lack of security, questioning the efficacy of paying taxes in a country where she felt unprotected. “I finally understand why people have big cars following them with four guards in the back, and why Pakistanis immigrate and settle abroad. [It’s] because we get no protection.”
Khan also mentioned that a friend of a friend had been kidnapped in Islamabad and remained missing, an alarming trend she feared could have been her fate as well. She voiced her dismay at the current state of security in Pakistan, sharing her deep concern for the safety of women in the country.
“Only I know how I saved myself during the incident,” she said, adding that had the situation turned tragic, “no one would have taken responsibility, a mother and father would have lost their daughter,” and her followers would have mourned her for a few days on social media, and then moved on.
Khan further questioned whether people in Pakistan genuinely felt safe sending their female relatives outside. She expressed skepticism, saying, “I can guarantee that they do not.” The actress also posed a poignant question about the significance of celebrating Independence Day, August 14, when so many citizens live in fear.
In a sobering message to young women, Khan urged them to be cautious and protective of their loved ones, acknowledging the harsh reality that “this isn’t a country where you can proudly declare that you have masculine energy and can drive yourself to places.” She noted that after the incident, she suffered from anxiety and depression, and her mother had to be hospitalized due to the shock of nearly losing her daughter.
“Happy Independence Day and thank you Pakistan for making us feel unsafe in our own country,” Khan concluded, urging her followers to stay safe and remain “indoors peacefully” on August 14.
The actress’s candid revelation has sparked widespread concern and debate about the safety of women in Pakistan, highlighting the urgent need for better security measures and protection for all citizens.
