Generation, one of Pakistan’s well known and establishes brands has launched its latest Winter Festive Wear collection, this time, with a twist.
Given that it is shaadi season in the country and hundreds of thousands of couples are to tie the knot, the brand took it upon themselves to spread a bit of awareness about the Nikkahnama (marriage contract) to couples.
The brand points out that we take our time in picking the clothes we like, selecting the design and the colours. We take our time reading the menu at a restaurant, we have often been told from a young age to read documents before signing them, then why don’t we slow down and read the Nikkahnama before signing it?
What a lot of young women don’t know is that they have been given many rights, one of them is the freedom to jot down conditions which she wants implemented in her married life, and once the documents have been signed, the groom must abide the rules.
The conditions can be anything from asking pocket money to placing the condition forth that he cannot marry throughout her lifetime.
Another advice by the brand reads:
As a bride to be, it is likely that you’d be overwhelmed with last minute preparations, so why not get a headstart, procure a copy of the Nikkahnama from your local Union Council or Masjid and go over all the details and specifications with your husband to be well in advance.
Whereas another one states:
Are you a bridegroom to be or know one? Laws protecting women’s rights in a marriage empower men too! What’s better than starting your marriage at an equal footing. You can set specific conditions for the delegated right to divorce to become valid and also delegate the right to any trusted member of your or your bride’s family or friends, whoever you feel would have both the parties’ best interests at heart.
Generation has hopped on the bandwagon of winter wear by introducing their range which comprises of rich hand dyed crushed velvets, custom jacquards, luxurious textured tissues and a lot more.
We hope that the campaign reaches the hearts and minds of all Pakistanis and they understand the importance of the Nikkahnama, their rights, and have a blessed full-fledged wedding.
