The U.S Embassy in Islamabad, through a tweet on Twitter, announced that 17 Pakistani female university students had been selected to be a part of the ‘Future of Women in energy Scholars Program’.

It is a 4-week program, which will start on 5th June and aims to help these students learn about the energy sector, allowing them to study energy issues, energy infrastructure, and other keen topics at the Texas A&M University’s campus in Qatar.

The program has been structured for the female students to spend 2-weeks in Qatar and then return to Pakistan for a 2-weeks familiarization trip in Islamabad and Lahore so that they can learn about the public and private energy sectors within the nation.

Moreover, the Future of Women in energy Scholars Program is jointly sponsored by  U.S. Mission Pakistan, the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Texas A&M University and many public and private companies in the energy sector.

The eligibility of the selected students was based on the requirements of currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in science and engineering. On the remarkable occasion, U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome stated;

“Coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States and Pakistan, we are excited to launch the USPWC’s Future of Women in Energy Scholars Program.  Through this program, the U.S. Mission in Pakistan is helping Pakistani women to pursue career opportunities in the energy sector and help them develop networks for a vibrant future.”

Furthermore, the USPWC Executive Director Radhika Prabhu also share her two cents;

“The USPWC Future of Women in Energy Scholars Program will give young women hands-on experience in the energy sector.  Congratulations to these future leaders!”

We would personally like to add here that we are extremely proud of all 17 students for being a part of this historic program. Time and time again our talented students and countrymen have shown that we have the talent, smarts, and wits to prove to the world that we can accomplish anything we set our eyes on.
