- 6-year-old Arishka Laddha has become the youngest Indian female to reach Mount Everest
Six-year-old Arishka Laddha has recently accomplished a great feat, becoming the youngest Indian female to reach the Mount Everest Base Camp at an elevation of approximately 17,598 feet.
Accompanied by her mother, Dimple Laddha, the duo trekked for 15 days, covering a distance of 130 kilometres in temperatures ranging from -3 to -17 degrees Celsius.
Arishka, a resident of Kothrud, Pune, India, expressed her joy at the accomplishment, despite the challenging weather conditions. She was clad in eight layers of clothing to keep warm during the trek.

Arishka Laddha hopes to scale Mount Everest’s peak someday and was thrilled to have seen Yak and Mule during the expedition.

Dimple, who has been involved in athletics for years, stated that she plans to train her daughter professionally if Arishka wishes to pursue mountaineering.
She was aware of the risk of taking her six-year-old daughter to climb Mount Everest Base Camp, as the usual age requirement for such expeditions is twelve years and above.
It was an impromptu plan when I decided to take her to Mount Everest Base Camp. We were told by experts that usually children above 12 years climb. I was told to take the child at our own risk. Generally, my daughter is an active kid. On alternate Saturdays and Sundays, we climb forts surrounding Pune. We have repeatedly climbed Sinhagadh -Dimple Laddha told Times Now
However, Dimple was confident in her daughter’s abilities and the duo’s past experience climbing forts around Pune.
Arishka’s father, Kaustubh Laddha, expressed his pride in his daughter’s achievement, adding that it was a moment of great joy for their family.
He also shared his initial concerns about the obstacles his wife and daughter would face but was elated at their success. The family intends to support Arishka in her future endeavours, should she choose to scale Mount Everest.
