18-year-old Alishba Mohsin is Pakistan’s first female jockey. Alishba hails from Lahore and is a private student in a school in Lahore currently completing her A-Level. She was officially made Pakistan’s first female apprentice jockey after her first horse race that took place on the 10th of October.
Young kids are usually scared of animals, so it was naturally surprising to know that Alishba fell in love with horses as a little girl. Upon revealing how she fell in love with the horses, she said, “I came to Lahore race club when I was a little girl, and that was the time when I fell in love with the place.”
Many individuals, at a very young age, find where their true potential lies. For Alishba, it was at the race club since the age of 13. She told a local news publishing site that her love for horses is infinite. At the mere age of 13, she joined the Lahore race club. However, she had to stop after a month as her studies were being affected.
Later, after four years, at the age of 17, she decided to choose this path and approach it professionally and, in the process, became Pakistan’s first female jockey. Even though her family supports her ambition, they are always concerned about her as it is a dangerous sport.
All girls must empower themselves and follow their dreams. Alishba passed on her message to young, ambitious girls of Pakistan. She said, “I would love to see other girls learn horse riding, as it offers an incredibly enriching experience for adults, teens, and even for children.”
As per Alishba, horse-riding is everyone’s sport and shouldn’t be considered a sport only for men.
