1 – At what age did you start writing – Your journey towards writing 8 books
I was 10 years old when I started to write. Soon afterwards, I wrote poems for young dawn at the age of 12. My first book was originally published in 2018 but later turned into a paper because of its scientific importance. Thus, I consider my second book published when I was 14 as my first book. Later, at the age of 15, I had written 8 books along with making 3 colouring books. Becoming one of the Youngest Pakistanis to have 8 books under my name and 3 colouring books; 1 for children, 2 for adults, and one for children.
2 – You are Youngest Pakistani Podcaster to have an international audience. Tell us about your journey?
I have 2 Podcasts: New Trends and Live Biology.
New Trends is all about the trending things that are going on in society, while Live Biology is about everything related to biology, whether it is about the nervous, digestive or respiratory system. I use the New Trends podcast to talk about fashion and positive things about society, while live biology is mainly for those interested in knowing life.
Live Biology has 50% people from the US, 9% from the UK, and other countries, including a 7% audience from Pakistan. It is available on 6 platforms, including Spotify, Google podcasts, etc. At the same time, New Trends has a 51% audience in the US and 14% in Brazil.
The Podcasts are in English, and the goal is to educate people and help them get to know about the things that both Podcasts offer.
3 – Where can the audience buy your books? Locally/internationally
My books are available on 13-14 different marketplaces worldwide. You can buy it from Amazon or read it for free on Kindle unlimited.
4 – You are Pakistan’s youngest scientist – How did you manage to get your academic article published in the Pakistan Journal of Pharmacology?
I just wanted to solve the problem, and diseases in our society are a big problem. So, I decided to try and contribute to society and wrote a paper. It was liked by my teacher, and soon, after reviewing it from multiple people, I finally submitted it to Pakistan Pharmacology of Science. It was accepted in a blind peer-to-peer review.
Maryam’s article on Oncology was accepted and then published in the country’s top journal and thus, contributing to the well-being of the society. It is also being abstracted and indexed in more than 20 various national and international databases e.g., Chemical Abstracts, MEDLINE/PubMed, Index Medicus, Global Health, NLM LocatorPlus, IMEMR, Serial Cited, and PakMediNet.
5 – Tell us about your Entrepreneurial ventures
On the entrepreneurship side, I also have a beauty store on Daraz, Pakistan’s biggest website, which I started and run.
Maryam sells products through Daraz and also runs the Instagram page for her beauty business; she generates decent revenue from her entrepreneurial venture to invest in her businesses. She is a hyperactive individual who certainly knows her way around fulfilling tasks at such a young age. We hope her story inspires young girls of her age to step up and achieve more important things in life.
