Pakistan’s Samar Khan has made the country proud as she sets a new milestone in history. Khan has successfully summited and snowboarded a virgin peak of 5,610 metres.
‘EXPEDITION SHIPODEN” has been done successfully by adventure athletes Samar Khan from Dir (KP) & Azam Baig from Shimshal (GB), who attempted backcountry snowboarding & skiing after summiting a virgin peak(5610m) with team members Hashir Rafique, Jaffar Ullah, and Zehran Baig.
The peak is named ‘Ghar e Samar’ (غرِثمر) as Samar Khan became the first one to summit & snowboard on it introducing a totally new culture of backcountry snowboarding in the country. A new avenue of winter extreme sports has been opened for aspiring youth of Pakistan which has enormous potential keeping in mind the tallest mountain ranges we have.
Samar Khan took to social media to announce the news and to thank her sponsors for believing in her and the team.

Earlier she posted ‘Moving towards the destination slowly & gradually, passing through edgy tracks & rockfalls with the team to find our favourite slopes for backcountry rides. The spirits are high & the athletes are resilient, but there’s still a long climb up to the untouched & unclimbed peaks.’
We congratulate Samar Khan on this marvellous achievement and hope that the youngsters follow in her footsteps in welcoming winter sports to Pakistan.
