The dynamic duo of Imran Ashraf and Sarah Khan have reunited for Hum Tv’s latest drama series, ‘Namak Haram’. After their block-buster drama serial, ‘Raqs e Bismil’, the on-screen couple is setting the screen on fire with their captivating performance on Namak Haram as Asma and Mureed, with two episodes on air, the show has started off with a bang and is receiving a lot of attention from netizens.
Saqlain Abbas is the scriptwriter for the drama, and its production is a collaboration between Fars Entertainment and Momina Duraid Productions. The acclaimed director Shaqielle Khan is at the helm of “Namak Haram. Joining Sarah Khan and Imran Ashraf is an ensemble cast with some well-known seasoned actors including Sunita Marshall in a unique avatar that has proved her acting prowess once again.
Mureed aka Imran Ashraf Plays the ‘Namak Haram’
The literal translation of the title, ‘Namak Haram’ suggests a theme related to betrayal or disloyalty, looking at the teasers, one can tell that the leading man ‘Mureed’ is harbouring a 27 year old grudge and is burning with a fire for vengeance against the people he currently works for. While he essays the role of a obedient servant and one that takes care of the family without any questions asked. However, towards the end of the second episode, events unfold at a faster pace and we’re aware of how Babar Ali’s (Amin Qureshi) right hand man, Mureed is not what he seems. He portrays the character of someone who can be blindly trusted by all but in reality he is the wolf in sheep’s skin hiding in plain sight.
Mureed’s background story also comes to light when he is transported back to his childhood where his father has always asked him to obey the masters. Despite all of Mureed’s inner demons, his exterior self does not show anything while leading a double life with his employers.
Sarah Khan Delivers Strong Performance as Asma
The leading lady Sarah Khan is getting married in ‘Namak Haram’ and the wedding festivities have begun, she is not the average girl like the rest of her family and is highly modest, prays regularly and has a no-nonsense demeanour. The audience is now awaiting for Asma and Mureed’s paths to cross after their super-hit pairing in Raqs e Bismil. In Namak Haram, Asma is his employer’s daughter and we can’t wait to see how they are going to end up together, but why does it seem like Mureed has a plan for that too? After all during the second episode it was revealed to the viewer’s that it was none other than Mureed behind Asma’s kidnapping.
