Tere Bin Writer Defends Controversial R*pe Scene, “Was Necessary to Build the Show’s Climax”

Fan-favourite drama serial Tere Bin took an unexpected turn, and fans are shocked! They are still not able to believe that their beloved Muratism (Wahaj Ali) had ra*ped his on-screen wife Meerab(Yumna Zaidi).

In the episode before the rape scene, we see Meerab slap him and even spit on his face, after which he loses his cool, half of the fans say that he had been patient long enough and she deserved it, while the other half say showing and promoting marital ra*e is WORNG.

On the other hand, Tere Bin writer Nooran Makhdoom says that the ra*e was necessary to show as it was the demand of the script, “It’s a situation which was the demand of the serial that will lead to the climax.”

Moreover, she added that  “If the audience isn’t getting it, I can’t change it,” she continued. “It’s just a drama. They should wait for the entire story to unfold instead of taking issue with every episode.”

The writer went on to add that neither the content team nor the production house objected to the new storyline. “It’s not like this has happened onscreen for the first time,” she added.  “It’s just that this project has received such wide recognition that people reacted strongly to the recent twist.”

She stands by the scene and the script. “If you speak of my social responsibility, I created a story and I stand by it,” she told the publication. “And this is not an unusual occurrence; it has happened before.”

Here, Makhdoom was referring to drama serials like Imran Ashraf and Iqra Aziz’s popular venture, Ranjha Ranjha Kardi, which too was highly criticised for including marital ra*e in the show.

Some fans have suggested that the ra*e does not take place, it is possible that Meerab and Murtasim get into an argument in which they both express their true feelings and then Meerab finds out that Rohail has passed away. Both of them go into shock and are unable to process their feelings.

We have yet to see what is the fate of the drama serial Tere Bin.
