In Pakistan, different brands offered various schemes. One such brand that became the highlight was Careem Pakistan.

Careem Pakistan announced on social media that they would be refunding the order amount ordered through their app. (Till 9 pm)

While the ride-hailing app was running its campaign under hashtag #MuftayKaMauka, it also actively teased the Indian food delivery, dining, and restaurant discovery service, Zomato.

The victory was huge for Pakistan as we won a 10-wicket win over India, so Careem Pakistan decided to refund everyone who placed an order before 9 pm instead of 500 customers.

When Pakistan finally won the match, the marketing team at Careem Pakistan was most likely in trouble.

Careem Pakistan also posted what seemingly went down between the marketing department and finance department. Following that, internet users also posted memes regarding the situation.

There have been reports on social media that Careem’s application crashed down before 8 pm and the orders were either canceled or never went through. The ride-hailing app is reminding users to be patient as the company plans to refund all its customers who were able to order food through them.

This reminds us heavily of Nancy Meyers American comedy-drama, The Intern, that came out six years ago, featuring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro in lead roles. The film revolves around a 70-year-old widower, Ben Whittaker, who realises that he is not cut out for retirement.

One fine morning, he came across a pamphlet while on a grocery run that said that an e-commerce site has an opening for senior retired citizens. Ben applies to become a senior intern immediately for a sceptical boss at an online fashion site.

The senior internship is usually part of an outreach program. The outreach program aims to “help, uplift, and support those who are deprived of certain services and rights. It involves giving learning, social planning, health support, and other projects for their welfare.”

Careem is looking for senior interns who have retired from their jobs. However, remain curious to learn and work. While no upper or lower age limit is mentioned, the post specifies individuals who are retired. (Somewhere in the late ’60s or ’70s).
